Man did this poem strike a nerve with me. My son just turned 31 years
Old and I left my kids dad right after he turned one because he use to hit me. I had to get my son away from there before he ended up like his father. It was the hardest thing and the best thing I ever did. Good job and good luck. Have a blessed day

I like the build-up here of emotion, from the first line - a passiveness to the action in the second line and then the explosive reaction of the third line. All vividly reinforced by your image. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Hi
This poem gets to the root of a serious problem and the correct way to react to it. Domestic abuse is never the victim's fault. I can see both emotions working together to get her to move out. Sadness because the relationship is not a loving one and anger because no one should live with being abused.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep wring and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of your weekend.

This senryu, She Saw Red, has the proper formatting and may be finding the point where the one beaten down becomes the one who has had enough. ........

A visually striking work -- pun not intended. But since on that topic, I think it would be more striking if you reversed the colors (black background, red text). It's also hard to understand the significance of the image. Maybe it would be more apparent on that black backdrop.
Empathy can be a valuable character trait, and also a dangerous one, as you imply in your notes. Useful for forgiveness of others, but perhaps less so for oneself. Thanks for sharing.
