This limerick, Gamey Decision, has the proper formatting and notes how the Justice's decision are not legally based, but follow her own narrow concepts.

It is unfortunate that bias is rampant on the Surpreme Court and and Lady Justice is no longer blind. Thanks for read and feedback.

"She voted to take away women's reproductive autonomy." Maybe she was indoctrinated. Or isn't a real woman.
"Her abortion thinking cockamamie" Is it legal to use that word?
"Her ruling smells a bit gamey" Oh, many women won't like this.
Nice limerick. Good luck in the contest.

Maybe not a legal word, but I believe it fits. Thanks for the read and review. As for gamey, the smell fits and we can sniff it.
Comment from Gloria ....
Of course MAGA's justification is that the SCOTUS ruling only returned the decision to the states where it should have been all along according to the constitution. Utter nonsense from cowards! Mike Johnson, JD Vance and others have come out saying they won't be satisfied until reproductive rights are banned in every state. Because they think it's responsible for climate change, the national debt, illegal immigration and many other things. Women always get blamed for bad things happening, starting with original sin in the Garden of Eden.
About your limerick, your metre is off in a few places so I offer this suggestion:
There once was a justice named Amy
abortion and thoughts cockamamie
made her kill precedent
to her peers' detriment
Her ruling now smells a bit gamey
Or something like that. Wishing you great luck with the voters. The artwork is spot on and very humorous.

This is actually a misunderstanding of what the Supreme Court did. They ruled to return the decision to the states, which, according to the constitution, should never have left state jurisdiction. They didn't ban anything. Women are still free to abort if their state allows it.
Nice to see a limerick on something other than presidential stuff!

I know you are correct re: return to the states, however, should a woman living in Iowa have less rights than a woman in Illinois? Thanks for the read and feedback.
-
That's how our constitution is designed. Honestly, I'd like federal government out of all of my business. Plus, it's easier to change things at the state level than the federal level, if a majority of the states residents agree. There should be states for those who are fighting for the rights of the unborn, if that's what the residents want. And honestly, how difficult is it to cross state lines if you want to? Best of luck in the contest!
-
Thank you, Julie for the luck. But why should the state be allowed into medical decisions between her doctor and herself. What if the states wants to forbid women to use birth control?
-
My only point here is that it should be a battle taken up with the state, not the feds, regardless of the issue. The federal government has constitutionally been given the authority to control coinage and interstate commerce, and to provide for the defense of the country. Period. Our govt is way out of bounds on many, many issues. We have given them/they have taken way too much power. And now we have massive corruption throughout, on both sides of the aisle.
-
No argument with the corruption issue. Absolutely agree. But women should have the same reproductive rights throughout the country. In my life I have seen much more corruption at the state level than at the federal level. The state has no right nor does the federal goverment to be in our bedrooms.
-
Corruption at the state level is not a reason to turn an issue over to the fed govt. You need a constitutional amendment to do that legitimately. As for the abortion issue, states aren't regulating/banning it because they are corrupt...it's an ideological difference...women's rights vs rights of the unborn. It's about a 50/50 split in this country, so why should one side get the force of the federal government? Anyway, I stand by my belief that the Supreme Court ruled constitutionally. And I feel blessed to live in a country where we are allowed to have ideological differences, and I feel strongly that that needs to be protected.
-
I guess we need to agree to disagree on the rights women should have in this country.
-
And the rights of the unborn.
I'm fighting for the rights of unborn women to live, btw, mostly women of color. :-)
-
Keep up the good fight and so will I.

You know, I appreciate the measured, calm discussion. Thank you!
