This one-hundred-word story, Time Change, has the proper word count and makes an argument for the changing of the scene in the delivery room since the cigars in the waiting room days.

Oh wow... pretty amazing in "100 Word Dash," I love your story telling. It got to the point, and "tis so true how time fly by, and a newer generation got it best in almost everything. I like your big font, and your simplicity of you artsy by using words instead an actual picture. Congrats to your writing and wishing you win!

Hmm, I had to read this one twice, but I think it saying that now, more of the family is in the delivery room than it used to be. I also think it may be making a slight joke, but I'm not sure.
All stories must have the following: Main Character, Setting, Conflict, Resolution.
As for the elements. I guess Mary is the MC, though she isn't exactly centered. The setting may be the delivery room. Not sure about the conflict or resolution. They seem to be missing.

Yes, Mary is the MC, the setting is the delivery room, the conflict is the change in practices from 40 years ago to today and the resolution is Mary accepting the change.

I had trouble seeing how the last paragraph came to be but being limited to one hundred words I understood and so after strenuous concentration I caught sight of what was going down.

Yes, times have changed significantly. It is much more a family experience now, as your story indicates. You wrote it well. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

An excellent entry for the 100 Word Dash writing prompt. These days they have everyone in the delivery room, including the next door neighbor and the landscaper. Cute flash story. Good luck.

The contrast between Mary's memories of her English teacher and the present was fantastic. I love how you shared the story of her teacher right before showing us how her life will soon change. Wonderful storytelling!

Thanks for your review. The part about the teacher is actually true and it did happen about 40 years ago. He addressed me directly when he said those words. I never got to experience it but what he said has stuck with me.

That's an understatement! Every day, things are different! Once, giving birth was just a woman's thing, with men not allowed, but now it's almost a party for some, everyone gathers around. I know the birth of a child is wonderful, but I think I'd still like to keep that particular end of me discreetly out of sight from most.

Forty years is a lifetime. People develop from children to adults, while prices, clothing, technology, medicine, and everything else changes. The fact that the family was in the delivery room is an extreme change. Best wishes in the contest.
