This is a good 75 word flash fiction. It's difficult to tell a story, getting in needed facts, and a little action in 75 words. But you were definitely up for the challenge.
I always think it's sad when the mother animal is shot and her little one is left alone and scared. Well, I'm glad she got out of there before the pride descended. Good job.

I was unclear who minto was. He's not the Pride male. Is he a male or a female. I think he's a lioness, but he could be a fellow lion. Just not the dominant one. Usually a lion and who's the head of a pack will not allow another lion to live there when it's mature, so he kicks out all the males from the Pride once they get old enough
African Elks only way about 40 pounds. So, a single lioness can take one down by herself
