IFor Jules the difference between her own regimented lifestly and Fran and Brian's is a really big thing for her to get her head around. I enjoyed this chapter as we see these two young ones develop. ' Nice chapter, Jim

Thanks so much, Valda. This was a real eye-opener for Julia, which made her realize how sheltered she has been. It was a real step towards her maturity.

This was very nice. You did a good job describing the date and his feelings and motivations around having Fran meet Julia. The date seemed to go off very well. The FanStory readers will like the sweetness, innocence, and simplicity of the chapter.

Thanks, Lance. We are in a feel-good period right now, and things are going well. The next chapter affords them the first real challenge post-rehab.

Hi Jim, it was quite the interesting chapter. Our Julia sounds as if she's lived a very sheltered life, but she seems to want getting away from that. I'm hopelessly behind with the story for various reasons. I'll do my best catching up. Ulla:)))

Thanks, Ulla. Brian and Fran were good at showing poor Julia there's a way to enjoy life that isn't so single-minded.

Jim,
Your sweet story is unique, in that many people don't take things slowly as far as romance is concerned.
I fell in love with your character, Julia, because I used to be introverted in a way, and she's musically inclined. I dabble in the flute and cello. (I'm probably not as good as Julian, though...).
I'm glad I found your story here; I would like to catch up and read more of it. I'm slow at reviewing sometimes, but I'll get to it.
The photo is very relevant concerning your story.
I love all the Rocky films, I saw Rocky I eleven times in California theatres before VCR's were invented.
Great write, Jim.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings too.

Thanks for this wonderful review, Cindy, and I'm so glad you've found the story. If you would like a quick way of catching up, each new chapter begins with a short recap of the previous one. If you read all the recaps, which won't take you all that long, you'll quickly catch up. If you're not familiar with novels, you can quickly get to the table of contents page by clicking on the >>> at the very top of the page next to the last few chapter numbers. From there, you can click on each chapter.

I enjoyed reading about the kid's date as much as they seemed to enjoy it. I've never seen the original Rocky movie either, even though I've seen subsequent episodes. I grew up in Philadelphia, and saw many tourists run up and down the Art Museum steps as Rocky did in the movie. To this day, the steps are a tourist attraction.
Julia lived a very sheltered life. Regardless to what happens, she will always remember Brian.

Thanks so much, Lorraine. Oh, you've got to see the original Rocky--the best one by far! So touching to see Rocky and Adrian's early relationship.

Thanks for this story, It is well done. I sure needed a break from my unpacking. I swear to you the unpacked boxes doubled while I was asleep.
I have found a few things I forgot I had. That's always nice. Well, back to the grindstone. Karen :-)

Glad the story could give you a welcome break from your unpacking. You'll get there, Karen. Won't it be nice when that's behind you?

I am determined to take my time, so I don't overdo and make bad choices about what else to give away. Thanks. Karen

Hey Jim,
it sounds like things are heating up for Brian and Jules. The poor kid has had a pretty sheltered life. When the kids who grew up on the farm were old enough to leave, many of them went to Juneau and went off the deep end so to speak, having lived such a controlled life for so long. I fear that may be what happens to Jules, but I guess I have to wait and see. Well done buddy.
Have a blessed evening.

Oh yes, and they'll be getting scorching hot before long. Hopefully she won't rebel too much and completely eschew her former life. There were a few positives--like her violin playing.

An excellent chapter, and the natural dialogue flows very well as you subtly introduce more insights into Julia and her home background. Yes, Brian will be blamed for the changes in Julia, but they are healthy changes, and for once, Julia is living a normal life. Well done. looking forward to more.

Thank you so much, Wendy for this wonderful review and the 6 stars too. I very much appreciate that. They certainly seem to be bringing out the best in each other.
Comment from Carol Hillebrenner
This is a really good chapter as they two get to know each other without her mother being around. Talk about someone with a stick up her rear! Julia is actually learning to be a teenager and not her mother's creation. Her need for drugs has a lot to do with her mother.

Thanks so much, Carol. I really appreciate those 6 stars. The pressure her mother puts on Julia exemplifies how unnecessary and harmful it can be, as she is the source of most of Julia's anxiety. She's expected to be perfect all the time, and that's a tough standard to have to maintain.

Okay... I'm a classic rocker, so when "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," comes on the radio, it's one of those songs I crank up to enjoy (hopefully in the car alone, wifey would squawk).
Then you photo of Rocky and Adrian at the skating rink... classic.
Well the afternoon went fine. Now I'm waiting to read how, when n snd why the hammer drops.
Alright... looking forward to more.

I've always loved that song too, as well as Rocky. It's easy to write about what you know and love. Stay relaxed for now; the hammer won't drop for quite a while.
