You pretty much hit all the fantasy genres in one eloquently worded poem. Definitely deserved to win. I am going to be gone for a short vacation, once again on the Harley so won't be on the site for a bit. Will miss your entries. Esther

How great would that be, going on vacation on the bike? Nice. I hope you have a blast. Thank you for the great review and stars, Esther. I'm glad you liked this dark, little piece.

It was a blast. We attended our 10th "goat feed" (which is an African thing). There were even some old Muzungu there (what they call white people).

Oh I really appreciate that wizard (well done for adding it!). Everything about this skilfully versed post immerses the reader in fantasy of a bygone, magical land of wizardry and knights fighting for their queen to achieve wealth and power, But just as quickly as the story starts, it fades again, returning us to the present day. Well done! A great contender and my favourite! Good luck! Debbie

Thank you so much for the fantastic review, Debbie. I love writing stories in poem dorm. And I love playing in my art program to get the desired picture I'm wanting. Lol. I'm always mixing different artwork together to match what I'm writing. I dearly appreciate the generous stars and stop in, Debbie. Thank you again.

This is nicely done. How in the world did you get that wizard in there. I know what you did but how did you do it? Good strong writing. good luck in the contest. Karen

Thank you for the great review, Karen. I have an art program, GIMP, that manipulate pictures with. This is 2 different pictures. I just sized and put the wizard where I wanted him and simply erased what was around him in his picture to make it look like he was in the queen pic. Then added a little airbrush effect so his robe was in there a little bit too. I do that with a lot of my pictures, make them adhere to what I'm writing. I really appreciate the generous stars and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked the piece.

Sounds like fun. Maybe later on I'll get it. Keep writing. I review one for one regardless of points. Karen

This poem, Fantasy Ending, presented with eight ABCB-rhymed quatrains, speaks to to the power that is amassed by a 'king" that can sometimes be "kissed" off by a plotting spouse.

I loved this entry to the "Instant Grits" contest. It told of a story that never quite was, which was entertaining. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Agreed. I would be nice to see some more fantasy contests here or at least some fantasy poetry/story postings. Maybe someone will start a club on this. A very nice post with a few reminders of what this genre brings. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the fantastic review and giant sixer, Lynda. The starting of a 'fantasy' club is a great idea. If I didn't have a job I had to attend every day, I'd give that some thought. Sadly, real life tends to throw obstacles in our paths. I dearly appreciate the gracious rating and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked the piece. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and thank you again.

Hey, Roy, hi. Thank you for the great review, my friend. Yes, fantasy was more of my younger years as well but I still love it. I really appreciate the generous stars, stop in and good luck wishes. Have yourself a fantastic weekend, Roy. Thanks again.

I enjoyed your poetic non-tale of fantastic magical deeds! Alas, when it came to an end I was tempted to misquote from Dirty Dancing " nobody puts grandmas in a box"!
I adore my grandkids, I've loved animals for as long as I can remember so I adore my granddog as well. I have no garden to tend but I adore nature and the nature spirits. One of my sons writes sci-fi / fantasy so we are constantly discussing themes and plots. And as my grandkids will attest the highpoint of my cooking is the scrambled eggs they helped me make as toddlers!
Seriously, I hope you are able to overcome your prejudices and, like others before you on this site, post what you love writing.
Blessings, Julia

Lol. I'm really just poking fun at the site. I too love all those things, pets, grandkids and even trying to grow our dying garden in the hot Florida sun. It's just sad how fantasy writes never seem to do so well on here. I always write what I like. Many don't appreciate it but that's their loss. Lol. I'm glad you saw the humor in this silly piece. That's all I was really going for. Thank you for the great review and gracious stars, Julia. Have yourself a wonderful night.
