LOL Having taught first grade for 26 years, I am fully aware of how losing a first tooth effects some children. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading and good luck with the contest.

Having your teeth fall out, at any age, is kind of scary. It represents change. Baby teeth get replaced. Permanent ones, not so much. But I get her tears. I cried for a lost tooth for hours until my older sister told me I'd get money from the tooth fairy. Lol. I enjoyed your poem. Gretchen

A metaphor for life, learned early! There will be loss, inevitably...
But there will be growth as well!
This is a potent three lines!
(And did the tooth fairy come?)
:)

Thank you for your review, Karenina. My child is nonverbal, and so I wasn't able to explain to her either the tooth fairy or her new tooth-to-be. All I could do was hug her and give her about 3-4 KitKats. LOL! That did the trick.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure your loving hug and those KitKats were even better than the tooth fairy!

Sweet poem about change and learning that change is a part of life.
My children didn't mind the loss of their teeth since the enjoyed the treasure that the "tooth fairy " left under their pillow.
Sometimes a loss brings unexpected joy and happiness and surprises.
Well done
Blessings

When I was taking business courses in college, the instructor talked about investments. He said, "Replace any losses, with new gains." This applies to all of life, including lost baby teeth. Your little girl will come to appreciate her new strong tooth when she sees it growing in. Great poem about the pain of growth.

Thank you for your review, LJbutterfly. Yes, I understand that she is mourning the loss of something that is replaced with something better. I only know that from experience. :) I hope that my losses right now are going to be replaced with something better, too. I don't know though, except from experience, lent from the Bible.

An excellent entry for the 3 Line Poetry Contest. You are right, your poem offers many metaphors for life. It probably didn't help the crying at the time though. Good luck in the contest.

Fiona,
I really like your metaphorical poem. I can understand your child's fear of losing her tooth, and not knowing a stronger better one will takes its place.
It's like life; sometimes you have to lose something before you gain something great.
Great poem. Great art work.
Good luck.

Thank you for your review, Cindy. I didn't realize the metaphor even, until I heard myself telling my daughter this. And I realized... I needed to stop bawling over some recent events. LOL! I like the way you summarized it: "sometimes you have to lose something before you gain something great."

Just make sure the tooth fairy brings a quarter. It hurts to see your child lose a tooth, probably more then it hurts them. Gratefully, l can't remember when l lost teeth. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you for your review, Boogienights! Unfortunately, she swallowed it....... LOL! So I couldn't ask her to put it under her pillow. Maybe the tooth fairy checks poop too..... I dunno!
