I do understand how it's easier to forgive others than to forgive ourselves. I do know, from experience, that God will help us forgive ourselves. He's already forgiven us. Sometimes I bounce back into bashing myself, but luckily it only lasts a short time before God reminds me, I am worthy. Thank you sharing your God given talent with us.

I feel like we are often made to feel shameful for things that honestly are out of our control to make others feel no responsibility. That the victim somehow drove them to do whatever. I heard a therapist ask a victim of a sex crime, if you had it to do all over again, would you choose differently? The woman said, "but I didn't choose this to happen to me." The therapist stood and did an ovation. "Exactly."
It was eye opening for me. Great poem. Gretchen

ditto!! forgiving others is actually pretty easy compared to carrying the hate, which is exhausting! forgiving yourself? very difficult!
and this was a great tanka exploring that conundrum...
excellent imagistic word choices with a smooth flow
cool pic and colours, too
thank you for sharing

Beautifully illustrated in a manner that compliments your words very well.We all have a past, some more difficult than others. I see her walking away from her past in the upper image, and returning renewed with a fresh start in the lower image.
Well done.

What I love most about your postings, Gypsy, is that every one is so artistically "complete." They're as spectacular visually as they are poetically and in format and depth. I also love how unique is one is. That can't be easy, and yet you achieve it day after day after day -twice!! Thank you for these lovely offerings, which I always delight in. xoxo

Redemption was won through the cross, nut was lost in the garden, but methinks this is a different redemption, that's solved by leaving an impossible situation, beautifully written Gypsy, blessings Roy

Exquisite use of language here to convey these powerful sentiments - the language is chiselled here, so to speak to mine the appropriate words to convey this reality to the reader.
