I don't believe I ever lost that fantasy aspect of childhood. Maybe because I was an only child and spent so much time in that wonderland that I never fully made it back to what is called the real world. LOL
Made it easy for me to interact with my children and grandchildren when they were little.
Excellent satori in this senryu. TBH I've never felt at home writing this form. I tend to overthink because my first instructor said there should be a sardonic twist and I could never get it right.
Thanks for sharing your expertise

In the 17th century, senryu was written by commun men, they were comic satire, mostly crude poems about women. They were written in taverns. As time went by, senryu has developed into just a poem about human nature on any topic. It's fun to keep your child within alive. I do the same with my children and grandchildren, they love it.
Thank you very much, have a wonderful weekend.

That it is!! This is one of my favorite qualities about children: they can ALWAYS invent a way to have a good time! I've seen them amuse themselves in doctors' waiting rooms, in a shopping cart while their mothers are otherwise engaged, and at sports events in which they are not participating and not interested. They ALWAYS choose joy!
Terrific senryu; I enjoyed it very much. xo

Oh, to think an see the world like a child again. That would be so cool. It's like that with my grandchildren sometimes. I will finally let loose and see what they see. It may only last a short time before I turn back into a sixty-two year old woman again, but it's fun while it lasts. Great poem. Gretchen

O, to be a child again!
I see your image, and I remember my I own childhood, what a pleasure it was. It is responsable for how and why I write. I am assuming that who we become in life is connected to our childhood experiences in a significant way. Your imagery is well illustrated. I believe you meant, with time it has developed into a looser form, easy fix.

Yes, that's true. As Picasso said, "Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist." - Pablo Picasso

So true. We as parents and grandparents are privileged to witness those wonderland adventures and encourage their growth in using their creativity as much as possible!
