hmmm, interesting.
But, of course, now, you've piqued my curiosity. Her comment is rather ironic, but I guess we'll never know the source.
However, All Time Best! congratulations!

Hey, Katharine!
Classes for me are done until July 9th. And then it's Summer Princess Hours: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, 8 a.m - 8 pm, with four-day weekends until after Labor Day! Woot!!
Thanks for the review. Writers need piqued curiosity, correct?
Great to hear from you, Cutie. xo
-
wow - long days ahead, but 4-day weekends sound enticing!
-
Soooo nice!!
-
During the school year, I have lessons every day at 7 a.m., and four nights out of five, I'm out until 9:30 or 10 doing lessons with high schoolers. The difference is I have a chunk of free time while the kids are in school each day, though this year, I had seventeen grown-ups who did lessons, and they took during the day. So 8 - 8 is Amateur Hour.
-
well, you're a wonder! and a whiz!
a wonder whiz!! :)

Hi, Rachelle
Well, I can see how you can post something to be kind and then also mute somebody
The person you mute might be somebody who made your life miserable, and who could never be reasoned with
In general, it's not kind of mute somebody, but I can see doing it in situations where they won't change their behavior
I enjoyed reading your poem. I like the rainbow in your image and the paradox between being kind and muting somebody
Good job. Thank you for sharing.

I don't know, Pam. If someone never intentionally reviews a specific member on here, making him/her "miserable" doesn't seem likely, right? And "miserable" is quite the strong word when everything is done digitally. If you see something written by a person whose work you don't like, you simply scroll right on by it. Or read their piece, shrug, and say, "Wow; I so don't agree with THAT!" and go onto the next post. Why mute? Why even deign to give him or her another moment's thought? Why allow their words to have any power whatsoever over yourself? Why would anyone choose that? Plus, the way I see it, writers should never cut themselves off from their craft.
Thank you, though, for taking the time to voice your thoughts and feelings here. I appreciate your respectfulness. Very much appreciated, same as all your reviews have been. xo

I muted someone who was giving three stars. he did that to a few more people. But I decided I didn?t need that so I muted him.

-
Did you ask him what was behind his low rating?
-
Yes I did and he did not respond. He is a troll
-
Yeah. When you've exhausted that vein, he's left you no choice, I guess.Good riddance.
-
Except, I believe one low mark is balanced against one high, so they cancel each other out when it comes to rankings. I think it might have galled him more for you to just ignore any review he ever wrote.
There was one super weird girl years back who did that to everyone - only she gave 2 stars sometimes and was just so CAUSTIC with the ratings. I tried to involve Tom, but of course, his solution was "Mute her." Since I'm philosophically opposed to that, instead I'd do back-and-forths with her. Finally, my wise friend Yvonne told me, "Just write 'Received' no matter WHAT she writes to you. Do NOT engage her." So that's what I did, and it worked like a charm. She became bored that she couldn't rankle me any longer.

Ouch. Not sure muting someone is unkind...sometimes it is self preservation. Not much of a social media kind of gal I guess. But the adage to "love our brother as ourself" extends to "bothers" too. Right now I am struggling with judging. Esther

I don't know, Esther; it doesn't seem like an act of warmth and/or brotherly love. We're writers. We should be able to talk our way through a conflict. Silence never solved an issue.
Thank you for this review, though. I always appreciate hearing from you.
-
Nope, silence never solved an issue. Too right.

Oh wow. This was quite a message. I noticed you wrote it in the 5-7-5 format. You did a great job. This makes me glad I've never muted anyone. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Same here, Jessi; I don't believe in it. If you have an issue with someone, PM them and get it settled like adults. Muting just feels toxic to me or even a bit impotent - like you don't have the verbal acuity to deal with the situation openly. Imagine a writer without the ability to converse? Nonsensical.
Thank you for your nice review.

This brought a bit of laughter to me as I read. I enjoy wit and am a repeat offender myself, lol. Would this be a Senryu?
Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Steve! No, I've just been told by the Poet Laureate of our fine site, Gypsy Blue Rose, that it is neither a haiku nor a senryu. I guess, then, it's just a MishMosh. At least it brought you a bit of laughter regardless.
Thanks for fine review. xo
-
Oh! Gypsy rocks! I enjoy her work immensly. I certainly found your piece intriguing, nothing wrong with creating a new style.
-
Sure, anything goes nowadays, right??!! Hahaha. Thanks, Steve. xo

Sometimes people say good words with bad deeds.... it's very hypocritical. I had negative and patronizing reviews ending with... "God bless you"
I don't know the quote or movie so I'm not sure the relation.
I wonder what type of poem it is ... it's not a haiku or senryu because it's a phrase divided in three lines, however... you do have a juxtaposition of good and bad. It's thought provoking.
Over all, good job!

Haha this is good. It's witty and fun but the Alliteration in S makes it read really well. A fun read out loud. Hmm I wonder who this is about. Unless I missed that?

Oh, come on, who doesn't love a good muting? Haha. I've been on here umpteen years now and it's been my goal to get 'everyone' to mute me, hypocrites, cheaters, liars and anyone who can't administer half of a brain cell to write something worth reading. I've been unsuccessful so far but I'll keep trying. Lol.
God gave me a sense of humor so I'm pretty sure He's backing me. He probably gets a good chuckle from all the mutes. He knows better than to expect a 'be kind' write from me. Ha
Great piece, Rach. Gotta love those hypocrites.

Maybe because I'm slightly advanced in age (69), I'm sort of befuddled as to why is it wrong to be a kind person in life and then mute someone on this sight, for whatever reason.
There are people who proclaim being religious, belief in God and then go out and commit murder.
Here we are talking about writing (something we all on this site have in common) and muting someone. I believe somewhere in the FS rules, it allows a person to mute, no questions asked!
I've recently been muted by trying to help a writer. It's his prerogative! He can flounder in his own stubbornness and remain stagnant. I don't care.
This is not the place for this type of pettiness. It must stop!

If I weren't so kind, John, I'd mute you right here and now. Oh, wait a sec; I don't believe in muting and never have done so. I figure, if someone upsets me, I'll PM them - you know, like a big girl - and work it out. I couldn't do so this time, though, because, well, you probably can guess why. (Starts with "I was" ends with "muted," so all lines of communication were blocked.)
And PS - stop thinking 69 is advanced in age. I say that because you're only two years my senior. (How is it you don't know that "old" [read: "advanced"] is always fifteen years more than whatever age one currently is.
Thanks for the review. Always great to hear from you. xo
