Oh this is brilliant. I really couldn't see the end coming (haha!) You did well to conceal what was to be the humorous climax (pardon the pun..) in the run up. Well done ;-)

I started reading this and obviously thought it was a religious piece not exactly my favourite if I'm being honest so speaking as a girl who went to a convent school it cracked me up.. Hilarious!

Based on your opening statements about the event of the year, it sounded as though the congregation had prepared everything and was very excited. I didn't understand why the priest pulled out. However, I wish you the best in the contest.

The topic of birth control would be a touchy subject to select for an audience. I think the election this year will be about women's health, and this is one of the topics to think about. Like your short story.

Haha! That's an old one but a good one. And cleverly inserted into the context of this flash fiction. Everything about your post is beautifully clear and legible with no errors and a great ending. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Thank you so much.

This is a gripping tale, but I bet if it is based on reality, the food would not go to waste The tale tied together very well. Good luck in the contest

Hmm, an interesting joke, with a solid set-up for the punch-line. I don't think restrictions or views against birth control today are what they used to be with Catholics, so many today may not get the joke. But FanStory has a lot of older members who will get it. If they aren't Catholic and get offended.
Good luck.

This one-hundred-word story, The Event of the Year, has the proper word count and leaves the readers with a double entendre and possibly a reason for the parson's confessional visit.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.
