Oh no.... poor Biden. I love him but he did the right thing stepping out of the race. Harris is doing a fantastic job. Now Trump is the oldest man.
Funny senryu. I like the picture too. Good take on Aesop Tale.

Thanks for this review and comments. My hope she will run rings around the Donald during the upcoming TV debate. For the moment, she has been going on all cylinders. I like her VP pick too. Trump picked the wrong VP candidate in Vance IMHO, but he too does "tush kissing" (-;

Thank you for sharing this comical contest entry with us. I do wish you had a decent choice to vote on this election, but we don't. I enjoyed reading and wish you luck with the contest.

Thanks Barbara.
Of course, it was written before President Biden decided not to run. The same cartoon no
longer works for candidate Kamala Harris.

This 5-7-5, Aesop fable redo, has the proper formatting and places the famous tortoise/hare race down as a reminder of this present competition. I guess we actually have two turtles.

Bill,
Both have hard heads?!? It is a slow slag to the finish.

Your poem was quite funny. We don't have very good choices. I can't wait until it is over. I like the picture perfect with the words. Good luck in the contest

Thanks Brenda!
Yes the political cartoonist has others, but this was perfect for my contest entry.
I am unsure the country will be satisfied with either of the current candidates.

I enjoyed reading this bit of humor about the campaign participants we have to choose from. The "hair" is hilarious. Very funny and clever artwork. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for your review Nancy!
The cartoon(ist) gets lots of credit for my contest presentation.
FYI this 5-7-5 format is my main poetry niche.

I loved the illustration and your words made me smile as these two old fogies fight for the top job! What a shambles America is in just now, love Dolly x x x

Dolly,
If the hair wins I might decide to claim my British heritage as my Grandma is a Sheffield lass (-;
Yes, the cartoon was super.
Sadly, we Americans have no younger choices for election 2024.

The first time I read it made me laugh so much! The picture really connects amazingly. You used a funny play on words and in addition to all of that, it's so true and he topic really well chosen. Simple but effective. Good luck on the contest!

Thanks for your first review of my poems. My typical post is 5-7-5 Haiku-like. Longer poems are not in my bailiwick.
The cartoon is a perfect companion to my words. The cartoonist (just discovered by my internet search) does political cartooning. I agree with you that it captures the essence of my poem.

Thanks bonespur for your review and interpretation of my political lampoon poem m. The cartoonist has other great images he has created. The one I used IMHO describes the current Presidential race best to a ?T.?

I don't know which I like most, the words or the image. Both reduce me to rollicking laughter. This is so clever. Guess it's also sort of frightening. Two old incompetents, fighting to secure the position of the man on the seat with his finger on the 'end-of-the-world button. I can't stop smiling.

OMG, Mark, this poem is great! I have yet to see the presidential race summed up so concisely. Using the "The Tortoise and the Hare" as your premise is genius, and changing "Hare" to "hair" was brilliant. Rhyming every line just made your poem that much better. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Michele!
So pleased with your comments about my political lampoon post. Your stars are just a bonus for me!
The cartoonist is somewhat famous for his political (cartoon) views.
