One must love themselves before they can truly love another person. Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading and want to wish you luck with the contest.

Beautiful cinquain with an even 'beautifuller' message (like that new word there - lol!). Seriously though, I do love the message you deliver in this somewhat trying form -- you make it look easy which I know it is not!! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;)

Hello Kahpot, I think that we all think clearer before we get bitten by the love bug. There's a reason for the saying ... love crazy. Yes, indeed. It scrambles all logical thinking. Well done. Great photo choice.
This is a choice that many can and will relate to. Margaret

I enjoyed reading this poem. I like the words: I must discovering within myself. We do need to love ourself first. Love the different colors you used. Very good job

Hope this gets you a ribbon. This is a thoughty poem.
If you don't like yourself, how do you expect anyone else to? Outside stuff like clothes, makeup, a good shave and accessories can help, but the inside stuff comes first. Karen

-Very nice artwork and presentation, kahpot.
-I agree with the premise you have to love
yourself in order to love someone else. It
isn't always easy to accept, but it makes sense.
-You wrote a good poem about it.
-A good first half shows that your thoughts
"became clearer" about the nature of love.
-Very good closing lines show why and how
to accomplish that. A good entry; good luck!!

How can you truly love someone if you can't love yourself? It's very true.

Good syllables count and connection between lines. Nice imagery and personification.

This is such a truism and well expressed in this cinquain poem. Impossible to love others if you don't honour and recognise that love of yourself first. I enjoyed both the verse and the sentiment, complemented by a striking, reflective image. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Debbie

This is a great little poem. I counted syllables, and you did great there. I think it describes an idea that love ought to be based on something like a secure self-identity first. Nice share. Good luck in that contest!

This is so true. Before we can love another, we must learn to love ourselves - the good, the bad and even the ugly parts! Self-acceptance will make it easier to accept others as they are.
