Excellent job, Jim! This is touchingly sad, sweet and beautiful. It's comforting to think that heart and conscience still exist, but sad that they couldn't be paired with courage and conviction.
Congratulations on winning the contest. You've definitely been on a roll lately.

This story, The Petition, moves along and gets tougher and tougher to stay on the teachers' side as the relentless tragedy of life unravels for the sadly treated woman.

Good morning, Jim!
Congratulations on your first place recognition for your moving post; I voted for your work in the contest as well!
Sadly, I can visualize the protagonist of this piece doing exactly what he/she did; following the crowd seems to taken a strong hold on individuals these days. And then, of course, regret... too late.
Powerful.
Creative.
Much enjoyed!
Thank you for sharing!

Hello Jim,
this was an outstanding post. Congratulations on the first place finish in the contest and for the ATB award. You earned it. I can't imagine the guilt that the teacher must have felt, especially over such a miniscule thing as a little dirt on the floor. Well done!
Have a blessed day.

Very good storyline. It really touched me... I like the person in the sty, wanted to go out and find her... try and help her.
Sometimes we just can't ever undo the damage we may cause another.
Anyone/everyone: I"m sorry!.
You deserved to win the contest. Well done, Jim.

This is a fantastic story with a profound message for those who read it. There are so many people who have to go along with the crowd! A tearjerker line: Somehow, she nearly lost her life, found her life, and suffered loss once more.

Wow, what a sad story. It is well written. Some many people suffered through that time period. The description of her was very well portrayed in your story. I like the video you included. Great job

What a tale. This gripping story has caused more than one emotion in my heart and mind. On the one hand, I hate it when self righteous people take it upon themselves to make a judgement of someone they do not know. I hate when people think they have some sort of right to make judgements about someone as if they have somehow been granted the job of judge, jury and executioner. On the other hand I am firmly convinced that God knows where everyone is and those who have been treated harshly and unfairly will be taken care of either now or in the glorious future he has planned for mankind.
