Hi Carol, just popping in to let you know where I am and to share some thoughts.

I like the mystery you're building at the beginning. We have some people, clearly dead, who have some things they need to share with Sandra. We're not sure what all they will reveal, and what the connections are with the Judge and the tell all book about his secret life.
Sandra's nemesis, Madeline shows up before they get a chance to reveal themselves. She gets into Sandra's room and finds the book. The narrative ends with Sandra watching Madeline come out of her room.

Engaging and unique,
Rhonda

Thanks so much, Rhonda. U was very shaky about the story as it began but I hope the crescendo built as the reader got deeper into the story and so did the writer. LOL Thanks so much for commenting and letting me know what you thought.

I think the pace with story build up is good. You move the plot along well, while building suspense.

This is another excellent chapter. The hook at the end is great, and it makes me want to turn the page and keep reading. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Hi, Carol, I came in late to this chapter. I'm catching up as I've fallen behind. I've been so busy over Easter and I'm now only starting to catching up. I do enjoy the story. Ulla:)))

No problem. I've been on a short vacation with my great-granddaughters and haven't written another chapter. I'll be home by Sunday. Thanks for stopping by and reading. Appreciate it very much.
    Have a great weekend.

I enjoyed this chapter. Madeline doesn't seem to know the other people in the house are dead, except Sandra. She certainly enjoys plotting against people, Sandra being her quarry this time.

Yes, Madeline hasn't seen anyone but James and Lorrie, but I think her time is coming soon. Should be interesting! Thanks for reading and enjoying.

Your cruising through without a bump now, Carol. Madeline is one of those delish characters I love to dislike and I have every faith you'll see to it she gets what is coming to her!

You can't speak to me like that?"

(Question mark?)

Was she caught red handed?

Time will tell!

Hello, sweet karenina.... Happy to see that your poem is doing outstanding in the voting. Sorry I am behind schedule in returning comments or writing, but the ocean and the girls are keeping me busy. Home on Sunday and back into the swing I hope.

I hope Sandra noticed Madeline leaving her room and knows she searched it. I can't wait to read more. This is very good.

Ryan sprang out of his chair and approached Lorrie, "She was listening?" (Lorrie.)

The Judge frowned, "Benny, you need to take this seriously, (frowned.)

Sorry I am so late but the girls have kept me busy. Will be back home by Sunday and get back into the writing again, except I will so miss the sound of the ocean waves. Thank you so much. Errors fixed.

I wonder if Sandra caught Madeleine, sneaking around, but at least she will be suspicious. But Madeleine is pretty malevolent, so there's something that's rotten in Denmark, but there some marvellous loose ends, beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

If I get myself off the beach and back to writing, I might answer a few of your questions. LOL I tried to write this morning, but the time just wasn't right. Thanks for reading and enjoying.

Madeline is just so easy to dislike intensely. You continue to make her a truly unsympathetic creature. She is a good foil to the action here. The tension continues and builds, as does the mystery.

I oughta find my 38 and pop (.38)

If you don't tell her upfront (I actually just looked this up, and it turns out I've been doing it wrong also. Up front is never one word:
Up-front confession [adj] OR
Tell her up front [adv])

Great stuff! Julie

OMG! What a cheaky B--ch! Of course she doesn't know the Judge, being a ghost. But it seems strange that Sandra can, when Madeline can't. Now they really must tell Sandra what is going on. Especially as Madeline has the book. What can she do with it? This is not good. Now I must wait to read the next part. Well done, my clever friend. :)) Sandra xx

I believe (and I hope I am not mistaken) Madeline has only seen James and Lorrie... They weren't in sight at the funeral nor did they come to breakfast when she was there. If I messed up somewhere please let me know. As for Madeline...she will get what she has coming to her!

Thank you so much for the review and all the support an encouragement. It's nice to get an extra "gold" egg for Easter.

No, I don't remember her being able to see the ghosts. I think Sandra must be something special seeing as how she can see them, xxxx
