I've just read this, Debbie. I'll keep my comments simple.
It's terrific!
(I've just been prompted to use at least 150 characters. I choose to exercise my right to literary delinquency. Sometimes less is more. Best wishes, Terry).

Hi
This is a well written poem about a strong and outspoken person. It is sad that even her mother treated her badly because of her skin color. It is such a story of hope that a person can come out of bad childhoods to become so able to use her art and actions to help others.
I like the quotes from her writing, which is part of you style.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great rest of the day and week.

This gets two A's, Awesome and Amazing. What's worse is you have now created a new hunger, I need to discover more about this lady. Can you tell if there is a biography available?
As poetry, this is perfect, the words flow delightfully, with a metre that reads comfortably.
I just want to know more. I once penned a poem about this lady.

Dear Bob, You're so kind! Doing this for no reward too. It's all very special to me. This woman is amazing! I think she gets rather overshadowed by Maya Angelou but deserves a lot of recognition. As for biographies, I use the internet a lot but, looking through Amazon, I like the look of DIFFERENCE, Audre Lorde's Journey - the life and legacy of a literary activist by Jones G Strow. I was going to say, I could buy it here and post it on but I note it's on Amazon.com.au for much cheaper ($11.99). Thanks so much again. Have a great weekend:) Debbie

Listening to the YouTube audio felt like listening to my eldest sister. A person can mentally find themselves in a bottle filled with the mixtures of life and either choose to scream to break the glass, hope to grow gills to swim within the mix or drown. We choose to aspire or expire with daily choices. I chose to be inspired by this poem where others may choose to be offended. Thank you for your artistry.

Thank you so much for your kind review, especially as you earned nothing for it. Your opinion really matters to me and I'm very grateful for your kind words. I love this woman but Maya Angelou (the post that followed) even more. Take care Debbie

Accomplished writing as usual. And such a wonderful, inspiring woman to focus on. I love these more thought-provoking poems that push at the boundaries with aplomb. John x

An exquisite poem about an exquisite poetess, written by the same!
You are undoubtedly among the most gifted writers I have the pleasure to read, Debbie.
Every line is intentional, well thought out, appealing to the cerebral and emotional...
I've read Adore Lorde and can think of no greater woman to be highlighted in your inimitable bio-poetical magical way!

Hi Debbie, I'm so glad that you wrote about Audrey Lorde. I will admit that until now, I'd never heard about her. I feel it's a hole in my education and knowledge, but now I do know. I listened to the her speech and it impressed me. Thank you so much for sharing your beautifully written poem with us. Ulla xcx

Your poem introduced me to someone whom I had never heard of before. She sounds amazing. Kudos to you for taking the time to learn about her life and even more time to celebrate her with such a beautiful tribute. Thank you!

I had never heard of her. Thank you for introducing me to her. I agree erotic and pornography is the same same thing to most men and is used as a weapon to hold us down and make us less. Karen

Thank you so much, Karen, for this very kind review! Do you know, when I was writing this, I honestly thought of you and how her character would resonate with you. I'm so glad it did. Take care, Debbie. PS But she didn't murder anyone to my knowledge:))
