When I read these poems, I think of Dean myself. He was one our greats, as you are. This presentation is perfect. I doubt you can outdo this one, but I am betting you will. Thank you for sharing your God given talent with us.

The pictures on this, both of them, added such a creepy element to your already haunting words. I do like the word 'bejewelled'.
This is a great piece so I had to review it.

I remember Dean's horror stories fondly! You have created an eerie atmosphere with this one and I love that last line, 'as crickets serenade the silence'. Every creak and howl heightens the senses in a midnight graveyard.

Even though this is a horror Tanka, I don't find it scary. It's full of positive words like "bejewelled" and "serenate the silence". I like the alliteration in the last line, too.
Well done.

Thanks for keeping Dean's memory alive. Your pictures are a lot less scary than Dean's choices! ð???
I like how you bring in nature to help with the mourning such as the owl asking "Who" and the crickets serenading.

Yes, dean's poems and pictures were scarier .. we both loved horror movies and poems and stories he thought he could talk to Edgar Allan Poe... some stuff was pretty weird. I don't want to scary you guys too much (*÷*)
Thank you very much, big sister.
