Hi Debbie,
This well written poetic found biographical poem reminds us the Bob Marley was not just a great musician and singer but also a strong activist for racial equality. He was right that there will always be some kind of war without equality.
Congrats on this being the top ranked poem of the month.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great weekend.

Debbie: What an ambitious, challenging and monumental task you took on in writing this man's story in a poem. Heck, just your copious notes alone gave me pause:), but realizing I didn't know much about the man and his music. used your notes and the story/poem a Cliff Notes:) I don't ever remember seeing the insertion of songs/album titles intertwined within a work of this size. I knew as soon as I saw the bold print through out the piece, I could see/tell exactly what you were doing. Amazingly, with rhymes (none of which seemed forced (just remarkable).
My encomium for you and the poem is through the roof. Thanks for sharing this outstanding/stupendous/Herculean effort with me/us. teafor2

Hi Debbie, oh this brings so back so many memories. As a flight attendant I flew to the Caribbean from the late seventies, and also visited privately over the years. As a result, the reggae has been a great part of my life. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem about a legend. Hugs, Ulla xcx

I hate to admit this out loud, but I'm not a fan. I am a fan of Debbie D'Arcy! Your knowledge surpasses mine in a vast array of genres. I have many friends that totally dig Bob Marley and that's great. I'm happy for everyone that has their favorite music in play. Music plays in my house (and in my head) 24/7. Wonderful tribute once again to the many people that make that possible. You rock, my friend!
Sending you my best today as always.

Dear Sal, don't worry about that. I didn't start off a particular fan but just grew to love him the more I read and watched. He was a remarkable man and I think it shines through his upbeat music. I'm very grateful for this lovely review and your kind thoughts. Take care Debbie xos

I must confess to not really being a Marley fan.He probably doesn't like my poetry. I do however salute his talent. The way you include so many of his titles in you write is so very clever. I always enjoy your work, though envy does sometimes set in. Jealousy is such a sad state.
You really are one of the more talented writers on this site. I must warn you however my judgement not that good. I think I'm all right too. Pity Agent's don't agree.

I'm a huge fan...of you and Bob Marley. In an odd twist of generational fate my 19 year old granddaughter has invited me to see the new movie with her!
I know!
Only Bob Marley could create such a miracle....19 and 70 and we're doing the dang thing!
You may have surpassed even yourself in weaving of songs with facts in ... You know ... Rhyme and meter that would put the Bard to shame!
I'm saving this one to my bookcase!
You're amazing!

You are the best I've seen at this, Debbie! There's a plethora of biographical information in these works of art.
I loved Bob Marley, and my eldest son later became a big fan of his music. I still have a Marley T-shirt. Well worn, of Course! Lol.
Thanks for this post! Enjoyable and reminiscent

Comment from Jamison Brown
I was never much of a fan of Marley; it was just not my style. However, as you know, I am a huge fan of you and your writing, and, to me, this is just one more example of why you top the list here.
The effort that obviously went into putting all this together is inspiring and certainly deserving of emphatic applause. There is much to learn in your technique and style, and I sometimes find myself going back and rereading a piece to see what you did.
My favorite stanza (I like the quotes): This Exodus would never stop his creativity;
he knew he had much Work to do so people would feel free.
In Jamming style, he called upon all children to unite
"for life is worth much more than gold," "we all defend the right."
I can't wait to see what you do next. Kudos! - Jamison
P.S. Happy Valentine's Day!

Thank you so much, Jamison, for this wonderful review and all your thoughtful comments for which I'm so appreciative. I started off knowing little about this man but, by the end, was completely gripped by his charisma (watching him on the Netflix bio film in particular). And, sometimes, when you dip into their own words (as in your favourite stanza) they say it all much better than I can. He only ever viewed wealth in relation to a free, fulfilling life and was a genuinely humble man, worshipped by his fans and family (despite his indiscretions). Thank you again, Debbie

All good points, Debbie. We sometimes don't look beyond the facade, and it's an injustice.
