We share our house with two cats. Of the people I know who own cats, it's seems there are more people who do own cats that do live vicariously through their cats. I do see it as often with dog owners. Not exactly sure why. Anyway, I did enjoy reading this poem and the presentation.

i feel the tanka deeply
i prefer to stay home
socialising is exhausting lol
i do what i need to do... then go home LOL!
great imagery here - and love the cat pics - especially the first one with the butterflies - totally looks like the cat is day-dreaming... the second cat looks annoyed LOL
thank you for sharing
shelley :)

Thank you, Shelley (*<>*)
I started a new book and my first poem has a note at the top, "background tanka collection " I can't get out of it. I tried editing the book but doesn't work. Maybe because I didn't want to start at 0 and I wrote 1 ???? Help..

I think a lot of people live through others via social media. I found myself comparing my life to some on instagram. Finally, I had to step back and realize this is their job. I'll keep mine, thank you. The phobia is something far more disturbing. Unable to leave the house is very debilitating. Great poem. Gretchen

That's so sad because without human contact even just online, one really would deteriorate emotionally and spiritually. That's some cat that he has! Maybe he'd survive with a cat like that!

I lived alone for ten years after my divorce. I was not a recluse but, for me, it's hard to make friends. I was very depressed. Thanked God I moved in with my daughter.
Love,

I'm so glad you live with your daughter and what a blessing you are to Atticus! He's developing all his creative skills because of his time with you! 💖

Beautiful and poignant poem. What a blessing cats give us for a variety of reasons, but you highlight one instance. Agoraphobia is debilitating, but the cat offers a measure of peace. Really lovely how you did this. Julie

I'm fortunate that I don't suffer from agoraphobia, but I've certainly lived vicariously through my cat's escapades. :) This is such lovely writing and so beautifully presented as always. I'm counting down until my two little Burmese brother kittens arrive. Just a few weeks to go! :)
