Very cleverly done. I was surprised at the volume of stanzas. I had gotten accustomed to the extreme shortness of the haiku's and tanka's. This must have taken you days. Nice work.

Thanks Karen! Yes, they can take a while and cause a bit of a headache. But her verses more than made up for it. I love her sense of mischief and just the fact that solitude inspired so much creation. Take care Debbie

Your poem of Emily Dickinson is well written, and I enjoyed reading it. It flows and rhymes well with an in-depth account of her life. I think it is a very informative and descriptive poem about her life and her inspiration for writing. Your artwork choice enhances your message, and you use good alliteration of many letters and sounds throughout your poem. Thank you for sharing your poem, notes and video footage of Emily Dickinson's poems. Best wishes!

another great tribute to a great poet. I like Emily Dickison's poetry which i first read when I took the modpo course love these lines the best
Yet granting strong and wilful self,
her work she chose to hide;
and kept that art like hidden pelf -
the reader to decide.

Dear Jake thank you so much for this excellent review! I've thought about your offer but have decided that, due to copyright/control issues, I would prefer not to go ahead. But I'm very grateful and flattered by this kind thought nonetheless. Debbie

Wonderful poetic tribute to Emily and great entry for the Poem of the Month contest.
Excellent rhyming that doesn't sound forced and flows nicely. Your author notes are very informative

Thank you for writing this very good poem about Emily Dickinson. You used great descriptive words and very lovely imagery. It was kind of sad to me as she did not seem to be a happy person. Thank you for sharing all the information about her with us. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

I really loved how informational it was along with how catchy the rhyme scheme is. I fully appreciate the time it takes for a writer to mold words into tune. Also how the tune was more happy for such a melancholy telling of life, sort of like an old English nursery song.

Thank you so much, Shelley! Dashes and punctuation are now becoming my Achilles heel. The more I try to get them right, the more I probably fail! Take care Debbie

Thank you so much, Anna, for this wonderful review! Your thoughts are so encouraging and kind. Yes, I really love biographies because there is so much to discover beneath the surface (perhaps my former life of writing Court reports for high risk offenders helped). But I've not come across anyone who writes this kind of genre so regularly. Take care Debbie PS Love that cheeky profile pic!
