You are able to keep this interesting by involving Ben in new situations Ben is a person of honor wantind to do what he was assigned to do even though he was taken by force to the boat. It seem he has a mission on the ship preaching to the sailors.

Following God's call is never going to be easy, and Ben's adventures are no exception, about like any of us who try to live daily by faith in our maker's words. Thanks for sharing.

Another excellent and exciting instalment. Will the adventures ever end. He doesn't do things easily does he? Really enjoyed reading this one, almost as much as the last one. Adventures at sea are great.

You've stopped in on my novel so I thought I'd take a look at yours. I am glad I did. I know I am starting mid-way, but your narration is easy to follow. I get the sense that Ben was Shanghaied. He has been assigned to be the Chaplin for the crew as well as his other duties and feels the calling to help his crewmates. Since he is an unwilling crewman, he is locked up when they come near shore so he doesn't take off.
Ben has a kind heart and a gentle manner and is likable. Trust from the captain is something he is still earning, but he has it from Andy.

Thank you.
So far, Ben graduated from Bible College and had a lot of occasions to follow his 'calling' in Colorado and Chicago.

This is another excellent chapter. You are doing a great job describing Ben's travels and spiritual life. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I liked the message that Ben could give to help with talking to Jesus to be relieved of the guilt.
It was good to get an idea how Ben got kidnapped. He's incredibly admirable to stick to God's calling even with a chance for escape!
What I found confusing was that the Superbia was a pirate ship and they were stealthy around another pirate ship.

Superbia was not pirate, just captained by a crook.
Many honest ships shanghaied crewmen (0nly way to crew a ship sometimes. And in many port cities, the men in taverns were sailors.)
Thank you for your great review.

Oh. That is awful! Life on those ships were horrible as Melville experienced it.

I think you should make a movie after this book; it has suspense, adventure, miracles, and overcoming our human nature. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

When someone receives their calling from God. They know and they will do as said.by the Lord. That to say. Obedient. Your Ben seems to walk in this. Thanks for sharing.

What an impressive guy Ben is. Even given a chance at freedom, his sense of duty to the innocent men on board the ship prevents him from seeking to escape. It was a moral judgment he made, and he valued his role in preventing a tragedy to the innocents on board against his desire for freedom and chose the former. Admirable and much like what Jesus would have done. Good chapter. - Jim

Thank you. Be like Ben, who is trying to be like Jesus.

I had forgotten how dangerous and ever-present pirates were back in those days. Of course, they're still around, but this encounter is more interesting than a present-day one. Ben will do what he's called to do, then make his escape. Or perhaps he will earn his freedom in the eyes of his captives.
Thanks for sharing another good chapter, Wayne.
The sentence where Ben is given the black and white rags, I would drop the "rock, or something", as it's not necessary. "each weighted, one white, one black".
