Well, that's the end of Diamond Jim, I guess. Ben can certainly do surprising stunts. I really liked the quoting of the Beatitudes - a passage being studied at the church we've started to attend here.
I keep wondering how Ben will get his lost luggage because it probably it has the funds he needs.

Thank you. I'm sure God will provide. (smiley face here)
I wish the Bs were preached more regularly, everywhere.

Well, I don't know if Ben was getting onto the train to glory, but it sure looked like a good time to get out of town, even if the problem wasn't his fault. :-) Thanks for sharing.

    Hah! Thank you.
He might wish he'd stayed in Chicago, though. Hang on.

A fitting ending for Diamond Jim and a satisfying ending to Ben's mission in Chicago. He leaves the place better than he found it, having influenced a number of people there is a very positive way, which is what his mission is really all about. Now, it's on to San Francisco and more adventures there. Looking forward to it, Wayne. - Jim

Well, I'm glad Ben's train was the one for the west coast! I was thinking Diamond Jim might have a heart attack at Ben's feet and then Ben would save his soul before he departed the earth.

Good chapter, Wayne. I was unsure where the "last time" ended and this week's story began - I assumed with the dialogue. My only suggestion here would be that you announce the beginning of the next chapter.

Thanks, Wayne.

    Thank you.
I use italics to distinguish capsulizing the last part, but in bold print, the difference is harder to see. I'll experiment.
I tried to demonstrate that 'foxhole conversions' often don't take, and also that sometimes a person has only one opportunity.

Somehow, I didn't expect Ben to kill off Diamond Jim, but it was a slick way to get rid of a bad bad man. Ben's method of preaching was certainly a way of luring Jim out. You mention grabbing the lapels of Ben's shirt, but shirts don't have lapels.

Ohhhh. You busted me. You are the only one to catch it. Good job.
Thank you for the fine review.

For a minute I thought Big Diamond Jim was going to be converted. But that was probably never going to happen with his attitudes. So I guess, Ben is off to some more and different adventures?
Well written.

I tried to show 'a fox hole conversion'. They often don't take in real life.

It seems God told Ben it was time to move on. I was surprised that Diamond Jim was run over by the wagon that was pulled by the stampeeding horses. I guess an new adventure await Ben at a new location.

Thank you. Ben's constant on-the-move preaching wore poor Diamond Jim plumb out. Hah!

I think I've missed a chapter here, Wayne, because Ben, I thought, was on his way to California last time I read your post. But Diamond Jim wasn't going to go without a bit of drama and, with all settled, Ben departs with style and dignity. A fine read! Thank you, Wayne, Debbie

Diamond Jim thugs yanked Ben off the train, tied him up and beat him. He escaped with the help of Tony and Angelo.

Interesting. I have to find the rest of the story and start from the beginning I think. I love the sermon on the mount and it was good to see and read here. Not knowing more about the story I'm curious. Is Ben helping people who were gamblers? Is Ben a past gambler? I have to fan you although I thought I had already. I like your stories and partially the dialogues, but I don't see them enough. Excellent writing here! Best wishes!

    Thank you.
Ben is a young man with a calling to simply follow God's leading. He started on a wagon train from graduating from Bible College. His ministry was in Colorado until he went to Chicago. Now he's headed to San Francisco.
    Thank you for following.

Loved you story as always, I like your understanding of how the Holy Spirit works, when an attuned to Him.everything takes a turn like riding on the back of a whirlwind, nothing is like being attuned to Him, no one outside can do what they plan, you can walk straight past them, beautifully written, blessings Roy
