Such a sweet poem, accompanied by such an appropriate and happy picture. Your abcb rhyme scheme is secure and the rhythm trips along nicely. Well done!

The last 4 lines of this are my favourites - "To love and be loved". True - what more could you want? Happy for you that you've got children and a granddaughter in your life.

I enjoyed reading this, probably most, because I agreed with you: Loving and being loved, especially by family, is one of the greatest blessings we have on earth. I enjoyed your rhymes.

Lovely, flowing and wonderfully upbeat (in-keeping with the brief) tone! Your celebration of your cute granddaughter and your family life, generally, are very relatable. Thanks for sharing and good luck! Debbie

Hi,
This poem tells a simple truth and the way all should feel, but many, sadly, don't. Loving and being loved is the best thing in life and should be savored by those of all ages. Family is the best to have around in all situations,
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Have a good day.
Joan

Dear Grandma, (I never knew either of mine) what a beautiful poem - and what a perfect picture. (Is this your own grandchild? Yes,it's Hannah, now I read your notes.)
Technical: four quatrains in iambic tetrameter, rhyming abcb - and every verse is faultless!
The subject of the poem: family=happiness. It is so wonderful to read the expressions of pride, warmth, joy and love which you all bring each other, from youngest to oldest.
Little touches of alliteration lift the poem at key moments: 'a whispered word' in verse 2; and in the last verse some nice repetition and assonance - 'to love and be loved, nothing more/to me at least, it brings much bliss.'
A beautiful ending to a charming poem.
Thank you. Hannah would be proud of you.
Paul
