How did Ben know that Olive was Tony's mother? Poor kid grew up so fast! And I liked how you wove in the historical Chicago fire into this story. Guess Ben must know he will make enough to pay Olive and Tony!

'Olive' was Tony'n name for the woman across the street who rented room. Her real name is Oliwia.
Tony started his trip with over $400 from the preacher in Creede, as well as whatever he had of his own.
Thank you for your very nice review.

Ah, you mean Ben had that money. God provided for his generosity!

A really interesting and intriguing piece. I love the way the man is like an angel. Your story does not shove its message down the throat but lets the reader work at its significance. Great characters and realistic dialogue.

Most engaging!! Some very special protection for Ben is evident here, and he is certainly fearless about sharing the message of his Saviour in a disarming and helpful way. Well written.

Never met, or read about a man like Ben, so secure in his faith that a knife wouldn't frighten him. But in this case, if I read it right, the blade should have cut him, or at least his clothing. And wherever he goes he collects followers like the sidewalk does leaves in the fall. A good chapter, Wayne.

Thank you.
Yes, the knife deal was a miracle. (More on that later.)
Have you ever read 'The Cross and the Switchblade' by David Willerkson, about '63-'65?
-
No, I've never read that, though the title is familiar. Wasn't he a street preacher? I do believe I've read another of his books.
-
Yes, a street preacher for a while. He confronted Nikki (sp) Cruz, a gang leader. Wilkerson founded Teen Challenge
-
Yes, and he does have a string of books. I read one of them. I'll try to look for it on my bookshelf.

Ben had arrived in Chicago and believes God sent hm there. He was apparently able to meet a very bad man and could not be cut by his knife. That seems to prove he is in the right place. He also seems to have found a disciple. It will be interesting to see how this goes. Didn't find any writing errors.

This is another excellent chapter. You drew me into the story from beginning to end. I look forward to the next chapter. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Chicago huh? Mrs. O'Leary's cow sure changed the direction Chicago was taking when she kicked over that lantern. Ben is there now to help clean up the damage and save some souls. He has already been sent a helper in the form of a twelve year old boy named Tony. Well done Wayne. Nancy:)

So, it appears as though Ben will take on the greedy garment industry owners and their terrible labor practices. This promises to be a dangerous job, but perhaps he is invincible now, as he was able to withstand an attack from a stiletto with nary a scratch.
Whatever the case, this promises to be an adventuresome continuation to his story. Well done. Jim

That would have been a mission, indeed!

With the direction our nation is headed these days, it is refreshing to read a story such as this. Reading through this interesting chapter reminds me there is always hope for the lost souls of the world, one of which was me.
Great job; love the time era you are writing of and find it particularly interesting how you create situations where Ben hears/feels God's direction.

Thank you.
D.L. Moody once said (paraphrased) - It is yet to be seen what mighty works can be accomplished through a person totally committed to Him.

A big 'AMEN' to that :)
