I had to see what else you had written. This is a delightful 'light and sweet' poem written by a man married 48 years. Wow! You do learn a thing or two in that amount of time. Congratulations on placing in the contest. It was well deserved.

While this love poem is not in the mold of Keats or Lord Baron romantic poems, it is the most down to earth, honest and loving poem, I have read.
Wishing you the best in the contest. I hope you share it with your wife.
Best wishes
Mary

I shared your warm comments with my wife. She said, "Obviously, she doesn't know you!" But, thanks! I needed some kind words today.

Cute, and I feel similar to my wife of 44 years. Well done. Still, you left me confused with "I spell "balonga" phonetically - "baloney" - for in the piece you spelled it, boloney

Thanks for pointing out the spelling error. I stay away from math for the same reason...

Your comment is appreciated, and though I am a wizard in arithmetic, please don't ask me to solve for 'y'

I am sure that you and your late husband found laughter to be one of the important bonds which holds a marriage together. I would bet he stays near the gate awaiting your arrival. May God Bless you both

The Speaker is quite candid about himself and the love of his life. Interesting she was not home when you wrote this. I hope you share it with her now that it's posted. I am married 53 years, so I know exactly how you feel, Poet. Rod

People these days do not realize the value of staying together. I isn't easy, but the rewards are so many. I told my wife on our 35th that as soon as I find a redhead who owns a liquor store, I am out of here. Its been 9 years and no luck - and she's been helping me look! Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you for a most thoughtful review. I was in a rather silly mood yesterday morning and found writing this much more fun than working on the list of things to do she had given me.
