Hello and welcome to Fanstory! I see you have persevered through the physical challenges of MS to painstakingly pour your heart into this free verse with two finger finesse...

Kudos to you! I do not know your writing experience, but I found some very cerebral references here that elevated the entire presentation of your theme...

"Etched in pain, only dearest ones.
you trust because you must,
may touch the hollows and ridges,
hidden beneath obdurate mineral laminations."

Bravo.

You have a new fan!

Karenina

Yes those who are close are the ones who can truly hurt us emotionally and leave a scar that is hard to heal, I struggled with some of the metaphors as this is a very personal write of deep emotional hurt. Welcome to Fanstory, love Dolly x

It is sometimes hard but it does fuel our writing and so we grow.

This is a very powerful free verse entry to this contest. The text is a good size. The message while sad is stated with crystal clear clarity. I loved several lines in your poem. These are just great lines of poetry........ Layers of scar tissue will shield them,
travertine limestone formed when calcareous waters flowed across your memories concreting them in rock.
This is a blind writing contest so adding your name at the end should not be done. You have penned a poem you can be proud of penning. Your visual fits well. Good luck in the contest.

It's a great first poem. There appears to be one finger in your visual. 😀

Your image is captivating. Many people do have scars that are left by loved ones or people you thought were your friends. I guess the best way is to not be affected from the scars, have thick skin. Like your poem.

Thank you. I recently let go of a brother who seems to have let go of me years ago. I found several others with MS and similar diseases did the same. This is my response to our group's lives and strength.

Layers of tragedy and sorrow lie buried below that carefully applied make-up. The worst thing is that many more of us have been there than anyone ever cares to imagine. kay

Review of mine? It depends what interests you. I just did a free verse on alcohol addiction, or if you wait a few days there will be an essay on covid (the plague of vaccinations) but especially a tribute to Fleedleflump. kay

This free verse, Writ Upon Our Souls, reminds the readers of all the invisible scars that we carry through the years that become our basis of decision-making going forward.

Firstly, welcome to fanstory, this is a very good first, a little on the prosy side, but great wording and advisory in nature. There's some really good variety on fanstory so I think you'll like, lots of contests, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

What may I review of yours? Don't think of my work as prosy - food for thought, thanks.
reply by royowen on 27-Jan-2023
Prosy is more essay like- without poetic device, such as Metaphor, some rhyme, (without consistency) alliteration Etc. Otherwise there is no distinction.

We hide life's scars hoping no one can see threw our pain and suffering over the years in private we let our tears silently fall hoping no one discovers what you have gone through with the abuse.

Congratulations for writing your first poem in Fanstory.
I've been here two years and have grown as a writer.
What you write about scars and bruises can be identified
By almost anyone. However, in my life strangers, have also inflicted scars upon me throughout the years.
Nice imagery and symbolism.
Good luck with this gray poem.
Blessings,
Cindy
