Hi Bill,
I think Sam should have taken the hint and moved on before Widow Maycurr dumped a bucket of water on his head. In the last line, we learn that Sam was a minister. That might explain his persistence, to a point.
Nicely penned!
Cheers,

A good cliffhanger here with the reader wondering why the widow would be scary to Satan. Of course, the bucket is full of urine but that smell wouldn't deter the devil I'm guessing.

Hah! Bill!
Smiles all around!
Loved your description and witty dialogue!
Reminded me of when I was in college...a group of students had had it with the head RA's son, so when he walked under the doorway to the dorm, they did to him what Widow Maycurr did to your parson! Kid never bothered anyone every again... at least to my knowledge!
Thank you for sharing!

Well, this is intriguing!! I need it to be a chapter in a book! I don't want this to be IT, Bill Schott!! This is totally not fair. I'm invested here, and you're kind of doing a Bernie Madoff!! Why is the widow being THAT level of onery? Simply not answering wasn't enough? She had to DOUSE the poor sap?
As you can see, I gave this much thought after finishing it, so that speaks volumes about what a good write it is. But, still...I'm way too invested to be done. Please, Suh, may I have a bit mow-uh?

Hehehe, I love this. Bill. So much for God and Satan. Some humans are fearless of them and and put the fright into them. So now , Sam is wet. What is he going to do? Ulla :)))

Ha ha ha, a woman to be reckoned with is it? Ha ha ha. When my daughter was growing up and only 11 years old, some friends of hers poured water over her from an upstairs window. She never ever forgave them and her birthday was coming up and she vowed she would not invite them to her party and she didn't. Friends don't do things like that she said and I saw in her some strength, a fine write Bill, love Dolly x

Dirty tricks from friends cut deep.

I got a chuckle out of this one. It sounds as though the fellow passing by has had some experience with the widow. She much really be a challenge if the parson would have more luck at the fight club down the street. I wonder if that armour kept the good preacher dry.

I loved the chuckle you gave us to finish off your little story Bill. The Parson obviously didn't know the reputation of this widow. Well told Bill, leaving me with a smile. Cheers

An excellent story that is well-complemented by the barred door. I thought it was going to be a chamber pot that was poured over Sam's head. Would that have been too obvious. kay

Sam needs to take some excellent advise and keep it moving. If the widow is tougher than Satan, she is not to be messed with. Sam had better trap his gun of righteousness on to his chest, and go fight the good fight against an opponent that will give him a fighting chance.
