What a generous, kind, and unselfish man, filled with acceptance and good humour. I am glad you wrote this one to honour these characteristics. He sounds like a gem! Beautifully written, Tina, a great tribute to him.

I know his condition will worsen, so I'm appreciating his good attitude so far. It wasn't always that way. He's accepted, but still gets frustrated with, his lot.
Thanks for reading it:)

I think dementia is one of the hardest things to accept. He's still with it enough to know what's happening. The future must look bleak for him, but he's trying to be brave and strong. The time will come when he can't. It's a horrid illness, for carers as well.

This is a lovely poem about your dad and his and your struggle with his dementia. It does indeed claim lives. I've experience this many times in my family. I used to be able to laugh with my sister when she knew she couldn't remember things, but now she doesn't talk. Best wishes to you and your dad, Tina. :)

I'm sorry for your experience. I, too, saw my step mom decline into not being able to speak or even eat. We literally watched her die a bit each day. Dad's dementia will get worse, so I appreciate the current times. I will pray for you and your sister. That must be heartbreaking:(
Hugs,
Tina

Thanks, Tina. I don?t live near her, but I?m planning a visit in August. I don?t know if she?ll know me at all, but it will be good to see her. Her family has managed to keep her at home and well looked after.

That's sweet that she's at home. What a living sacrifice by her family. I'm glad you get to see her soon. You have my best wishes for a good visit:)
-
Thank you, Tina. Hugs.

A heartwarming poem about your dad. You still seem to see his character glowing through his dementia, which is a blessing. It's a poignant read and a very positive message of love.

Wow, he really is a hero. And it's because your dad trusts the Lord. What a difference that makes. My dad is 93 and has dementia. Although he grew up in a Christian home and taught the Bible, he doesn't have the Lord's joy. He just remembers bad events, is fearful and easily angered. So keep being proud of your dad! It's not like that for everyone.

I'm sorry your dad doesn't have that joy:( That makes it hard on you, I'm sure! My dad is 85 so later on, as dementia progresses, I'm sure things will be harder. He used to be very negative and impossible, then he changed. Might have gotten better meds or else the Lord got hold of him!My step mom had Alzheimer's and struggled to her death, so this is our second round. God is good, though. He has a plan!
Hugs and prayers, Helen:)

Let's keep praying! I think dementia is worse than cancer. I don't look forward to extreme old age if it's like what I'm seeing. May the Lord keep our focus on Him! 💖🙏
-
Yes ma'am! It's such an evil disease. It hurts families, deprives them of so much, not to mention the I'll one. I need to pray more and better.
When we talk to the Lord in the light of His Word, what a shadow? He lights on our way. Popped into my head!
-
GLORY, that's the word! Not shadow...I knew that was wrong ..
-
Well, we do take refuge in the "shadow of His wings." So maybe that's what you were thinking. 💖

How wonderful is you dad. You're a chip off the old block. I meant that! I've had a lot of experience with Alzheimer's. Jack's mom had it and she lived out her life here in our home. We called in Hospice the last six months. It was most difficult. Still, we had some sweet times with her. Sending you my best today as always,

We share a similar experience! My dad, Jack ..his second wife got Alzheimer's. We nursed her for several years and used hospice at the end. It was so difficult, but yes the sweet moments made up for it:) Thanks for reviewing and for sharing about Jack's mom:)
I would only hope his character rubbed off on me. Thank you for that, sweet Sally.
I appreciate you. Are you and your hubby in good health at the moment? Let me know how I can pray for you. I need more practice:)

Excellent story/poem. Well written.
It's a tale far too many of us can relate to.
I love your dad's strength. I hope it lasted a good long while.
Best wishes.

Dad's 85 and going strong, as far as staying positive. I know it will get harder so I'm glad I have these good talks with him.
Thank you for the review and thoughts!
