I didn't know that about Babylon having such a large population, but I'm not surprised because Nebuchadnezzar pillaged so many nations. I was interested to read about the palace built between 604 and 561, and to think it may well have been the location of Daniel 4 (when Nebuchadnezzar was walking around the roof saying how great he was, and not glorifying God, so he was stripped of his kingdom and had a period of insanity before being restored.

I found this information very interesting. I was fascinated with the population information. I shared it with my husband. Thank you, again for doing the research and sharing this with us.

Thanks for sharing another great chapter. I this old mind could remember them all, I would be a smart man on the subject. But there is no chance of that, I can't even remember my grocery lists.

This is another very good post about the Sea of Galilee and Babylon. You used very good descriptive words and very neat imagery from the art work you chose. I am going to book mark this. Thank you for sharing. Very interesting work. Blessings, Teri

I thought the Tower of Babel predated the kingdom of Babylon. Wasn't it supposed to something people were attempting to build to escape a flood in case a world wide flood occurred again. I also thought it was abandoned. Doesn't Babylon mean confusion. I surprised that the ruins are so old. Some of the prophecies of the Bible refer to a modern day Babylon.
You are certainly digging up so ancient information.

Most scholars believe the Tower of Babel was Etemenanki, built sometime between the 14th and 9th Centuries BC. Nebuchadnezzar rebuilt this palace after Sennacherib destroyed it in 689BC. Its origins have been dated to Hammurabi, who reigned about 1810BC to about 1750BC. Appreciate the review.

Excellent presentation once again. I didn't know the Hanging Gardens had been found. I was reading something the other day about they didn't know where to find the gardens. Great job. Enjoy your evening. Shirley

How fascinating this is, I've always been a fan of ancient civilisations, and these early Mesopotamian civilisations are a reasonable outworking and reason for their longevity, it's amazing how democratic forms of government, will probably never match the longevity these ancient kingdoms. I think humanity will thrive better in a benevolent dictatorship, such as the reign of Christ, have a look at the corruption in earthbound totalitarian rulers, or so called democracy, (one still had prominent ruling families, which resembles the feudal system) beautifully written Brett, blessings Roy
