I love the story! You do very well in painting pictures of your characters and allowing the reader a bit more than just a superficial relationship with them. Your book is coming along very nicely. good job. ann

Thank you so much, Ann. I really appreciate the review and comments. I think as I did deeper it may take a lot of research.

That's a very well-penned tale and a very interesting slice of family history as well. I always like it when a non-fiction story is educational.
Only one teeny-weeny problem - for correctness the title should be An Excellent Helpmate, but no big deal.

Is it supposed to be Symonds or Simmons in first paragraph?
In paragraph 2 indian's tribes should be Indian tribes.
Brings back fond memories of a different time and place, one that remains much better than folks have things now.

Thank you for the excellent review. Symonds was the original name. James changed it to Simmons in the second paragraph. I'm glad I got to experience a bit of the simpler way of life.

I love how you are delving deeply into your heritage to explicate the legacies and stories surrounding your family. Nice insights into the meaning of grandpa and grandma on your life.

Very well written. Good work.
Yes, my grandparents had a farm. First milk cows, then hogs.
My brother and I spent a week every summer helping out. Back then work was fun.
Best wishes.

Thank you Wayne. Did you learn to milk cows? I did but I neve milked a hog. LOL I don't think all that work would be fun now.

What a wonderful and amazing woman your grandmother was. Extremely hard-working, strong and very talented, but she still made time to offer much love. This story needs to go down through all the generations of your family. You've written it so well, you maintained the interest from the first word to the last.

Thank you for sharing about your amazing grandmother! She was so talented and so hardworking! Your grandfather knew the right one for him! And what a blessing you got to spend time with them daily. No wonder your mother had time for all her work. You were amazing, too, picking 50 pounds of cotton at age five!
Some comments:
rotating the crops. James married soon (I was surprised at the marriage sentence immediately after the information about the need for rotating the crops. Maybe give another sentence to tie reason for marriage? Or start a new paragraph?)
The craftwork. she fit in around (stray period)
almost robbed me of my ability to breath. (breathe)

Thank you so much for the excellent review and help. I'm trying to get this as accurate as possible for those of my family interested in genealogy. The records of that day are confusing. I found the ship list when he arrived in 1635 alone. Looking again, I see he had left his wife and children in England. He must have married young and she was likely pregnant and came later. She was four year older than him. I had to reword about his wife and I added it to first paragraph instead of mixing with the plantation.

You have every reason to remember your grandma for you remember those moments how she had an impact on your life, you wish to share with some moments with your own grandchildren, care love and family relation were remarkable; well said, well done; post god speed more; positively encouraging editing, negatively not wording, forgiving errors of theist-good authors-writers.
