Hahaha I actually grew up eating both bananas and plantains. When ripe, they can be delicious and doesn't need cooking. But I also realize that there's not a unanimous consensus on what's defined as a plantain. So I rest my case

Yeah, another person here is very adamant that I am wrong because banana and plantain are the same in Spanish. She does not accept that in English, and in American grocery stores, they are two distinct things . . . But I have seen in grocery stores I believe is technically classified as a "true plantain". I think I might've had one once. Perhaps this is the week that I will try one!

Your entry for the 2-10-2 writing prompt contest is okay but doesn't make sense.. plantain is a banana .... it's food. If it's a joke it's not funny.
Good syllables count but the connection between lines can be improved.

Thanks for your feedback! Plantains are not bananas. I know that in some languages (Spanish) they are the same. But plantains have to be cooked. You can find them in American grocery stores and they tend to be green and quite hard, as opposed to bananas, which are usually not cooked.

Yes, well, also mentioned in your Wikipedia article as a reference to true plantains. These are the sort I am referring to, which are not eaten without cooking. In American English, when people say plantains, they are generally referring to true plantains like the ones in the picture shown in this Wikipedia article. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_plantains
