Yes. Email wedding invitations are all the rage these days. My nephew is getting married in January 2022 -- also found on!y SPAM folder. (smile)-- so what's up? Will Lauren get special dispensation and get to attend her brother's wedding! Geez. I am way over this Covid stuff. --

Lauren's upset because her brother got testy about her boyfriend not being vaccinated-(he gives her a pass on account of her special circumstances).

it's not just elegance that's been thrown out the window, so have common sense and courtesy. I would have asked him to attend tea at your house (in celebration of his wedding) and made him jump through the same directorial hoops (or is it hoopla)?

I too miss the days of beautifully engraved invitations; they added such glamour and gravitas to the occasion. But what disappoints me the most about today's wedding events is that the married couple are no longer expected to send out thank you cards. When my daughter got married 7 years ago, I noticed that the stationery packet did not include thank you notes. Thinking it was a SNAFU by the printer, I quickly called her to tell her to get on the phone and have him print up cards ASAP. She looked at me as though I was a lunatic and said, what thank you cards? She herself had never received one from any of the weddings she had attended.
Thinking it might be an issue specific to this country, I waited for a thank you card to arrive from my niece, who was married in Canada. I waited in vain. Really? Has it come to that?

Shocking! I haven't been to a wedding in ten years--I was a guest so I don't know if a note was received.

Our modern world does not always have empathy in social areas and often the quickest way is considered to be the best way. A lot has been lost by not communicating face to face as much as in the past. The personal touch is being lost in a lot of areas.

You've just written the latest episode about a killer virus, proving you are, or are not an alien, (depending on vax status), and written messages sent through air waves. People of the 60's wouldn't believe your story, but I enjoyed it.

I too, am saddened by the lost of elegance of receiving actual cards and invitations in the mail. I often find emails from people I often email in the Spam folder. Now I ask you, who is the darned computer to decided when my mail is Spam. Unless the email is about male enhancements drugs or some such nonsense, I want to be the one to toss it! Good essay and much enjoyed!

You are very welcome. I always enjoy reading your posts. I hadn't heard about Thank you notes! Perhaps that's why I never get one from my nieces when I give them gifts! I hope the wedding goes on without an incident!

Wow, I wonder how many others might have missed the invitation among their many emails! Having the restrictions about COVID I fully do agree with. It's not over yet and care must still be taken. I'm sorry your daughter had chosen not to get vaccinated, unless her doctor advised against it.
