Ciao Sugarray!
One of the things I love when I go walking in the woods , is to stop and listen to nature's many sounds.
The stream that gurgles, the cicadas that sing , the bees that buzz , the birds that chirp the breeze that whispers.
Together they create a symphony that soothes the mind and soul.
You are brilliant in describing all these different elements that nature offers to us gratis.
A peaceful read.

Hello Franca. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the sights and sound of early September. We still hear the cicadas singing each day, but I know that cooler air is coming soon and they will go away. Thank you for your wonderful comments ~ I always enjoy reading your reviews!!! Hugs,
Melissa

The sound of the cicadas is very loud and I don't know why but its noise intimidates me. I will do whatever I can to stay away from where they are.

Very nice! Your rhyme and meter seduce the reader...your repeated line is ideal. "old ballads sung in sultry rhyme"-- one of those lines I read aloud and say " I wish I was clever enough to think of that!)
You've done the Rondeau proud!

Thank you so very much Karenina. So appreciate your opinion and comments!! I am glad you liked that little line... I thought it might fit in there nicely... sultry rhymes... now, doesn't that evoke a bit of dreaminess? Haha.. Thanks again.

Hi Melissa, we had one years when they came out here in Illinois sweet girl...
it was crazy...they were so loud...we have a road where the trees hung over the top...even the windows being closed could shut the sound out...and you could hear them at night...they were on all the trees...and when you drove down the road they would hit the windshields...it was crazy...
I love your poem my sweet friend...and love the picture...
very well written you....Love Linda xxoo

Hello Melissa,
You've written a wonderful Rondeau with magical imagery.
Marvelous use of sound, which echoes the theme of the poem
and just the right amount of alliteration.
Splendid choice of rhymes opens the impact of the cicada sounds.
I love to hear the Cicada songs too.
Well done.
Best wishes, my friend.

A beautiful Rondeau. You give the cicadas a wonderful tribute with vivid descriptions. We were living where the 17 year cicadas arrived and for a week or three, one could hardly hear anything else. This year we have had a few and I can hear the harmony you describe so beautifully.
Well done.
Blessings

Hello Janet. What a lovely review and I also have a "few" cicadas this year, which is why I tuned in to their song. I am sure that if there were more, it would be annoying. But, when I was on my deck, the entire garden seemed to hum together. :). Thank you!

You chose a subject I am very fond of ... the scenes, the sounds, the feel of sultry summer in shadowed woods where one can hear the music of the cicadas.
I love the Rondeau, and this is exceptional.

Hello Sweet Sal. I knew you would enjoy this being a southern gal like me. I think the sounds of the cicadas is a premier essence of summertime... even if they do get a bit loud. LOL. Thank you.

Beautiful Rondeau poem. I love the word--vacillating... it's almost the same in Spanish.
"cadences that fall and climb entrancing summer melodies" it's such a great way to describe the sound cicadas make. Your poem is rich in imagery like haiku. Well done!
