I very much enjoyed reading your excellent story. It really drew me in and captured my attention from start to finish. I found myself rooting for the main character all the way and wishing the best for the individual. Your depiction of this situation was quite emotional and touching to me. Your descriptive skills are exceptional and you express yourself very well.

Another wonderful story about a wash woman, who gained several friends through washing of laundry in the neighborhood. I can remember the days also when we hung clothes out to dry....love the fresh smell of sheets.

The war certainly had its effect on Victoria. One would say that she was indeed an angel. If this were a true story it would be utterly amazing for someone to assume responsibility for so much laundry for free.

A wonderful and well written story for the flashback contest. You shared a bit of history but showed us both the stench of war and the freshness of a woman willing to give of herself. Well done!

This story of the fictional Victoria Haines Prescott, "...saint and angel...", was riveting. I loved seeing this woman respond to adversity with kindness and self-sacrifice. Terrific.

Although this story is fiction in a historical setting, it is written with such detail that the reader feels like an on-site witness to it all, as though it really happened just as described.
As in so many your stories, there is a selfless heart full of love at work, making the lives of others better, even in the worst of times. Yes, Victoria Haines Prescott is an Earth Angel to her neighbors.
Superb, and aptly illustrated.

Thank you for the lovely review and generous compliments and stars! I haven?t written a short of this magnitude in awhile. It came to me so vividly, I just had to polish it, and enter the contest. It seemed appropriate for the theme with Victoria?s flashbacks. Sending you my best today, and blessings always,
Sal :))

You are most welcome, Sal. I greatly enjoy ALL your stories of this kind. Your stories remind me of the Walter Cronkite TV historical story series, You Are There, many decades ago; but you accomplish it all with only written text. :)) -- Mike

Thank you, again. This means the world to me.

This is a excellent story of the war years in England and how even a Colonel's wife was willing do the laundry for others. Something tramatic times brings out the best in people as it did in her case. I wonder if that could happen now.

Thank you so much for stopping in for this. I've not written a historical work in awhile. Although this is fiction, there's a lot of truth in it and valuable war history that should never be forgotten. Sending you my best today as always,
