As always, thanks for putting in your two cents for two cents! I didn't have to think of a comeback at the time--I never got this "proposal"--this snide response came to me as I was writing this rant!

LOL. The giver, and the take-it-away rejecter. Why does it always seem like it's the man's gift of marriage to a woman? Beats the hell out of me! What self-respecting female would truly take a man with rough hands, tracks in his underwear, and alcohol breath, if she actually knew what she was getting into? Oh, and just for the record . . . Yep I think it stinks. I think it is a flippant proposal that shows little depth and romance in offering marriage. It may be a red flag as a guy who uses this may not have an affectionate bone in his body.

Yes that is the ultimate insult that someone as sleazy as him thinks he has to power to turn you into someone honest, since you have been living outside the bonds of matrimony likely due his own lack of consideration for your feelings.
