That is a wonderful work of art for a brutal and terrible man who did awful things to his slaves and to the Native Americans. Nevertheless the artwork is to be admired. You did a great job focusing on this cameo on the Metropolitan Museum of Art!
Love your new profile picture! ð???

I am currently in Tennessee, my birth State celebrating my 81st birthday. Today we visited down town. I suspect you know what we celebrated. I have cameo which is well over hundred years old. Keep using your talent to celebrate art & history.

Sunny,
Yay! It's so exciting to see some of you getting started already. (Actually makes me feel a little skittish, like I'm not doing my job. YIKES!) hahaha
This was a really, really cool presentation. First of all, I ADORE cameos, so you had me right away when I saw the image. *smile* But I also thought the way you formatted the poem was really creative and unique. I am assuming the quote running through the middle of the post in bold are words by Jackson himself? If so, you may want to consider adding a note about that in the author section? (On the other hand - I see some portion of that on the frame of the cameo, maybe? But I can't make it all out, so I don't know...)
I was wondering if you have a theme for the month or if you'll just be winging it? I'm always curious about how folks go about these things. I have to have a theme, myself. (And still pray!)
Thanks - I enjoyed! Good luck!

-Beautiful artwork, Alicia.
-I like the formatting of your poem,
and the message in between
each verse.
-Good description of the bust,
the cameo, and the artists.
-It sounds like a challenging
choice, good luck with it.
-I look forward to reading your poems.

I like it - especially the quote intertwined in the explanation of the sculpture. You shared something I haven't heard before - that's the beauty of reading!
Thanks.

This is an interesting and informative entry. And it is complete with a list of references including "Rhyme Zone." I don't believe you have to site "Rhyme Zone"? Is this some sort of external contest entry? Thank you for sharing this piece.
