Kudos both for this fine piece and your efforts on behalf of the students!
Sad to say, the five[HYPHEN]day work week is going to rock some (small percentage) teachers' boats [COMMA] as they have not been providing what they should on Fridays and have regarded it as the start of their three-day weekend.

Such a long time to be away! Glad that you are soon able to improve the face to face teaching. (In Australia our students only missed half a term last year. We have not had the horrific situation that you have been in, (fewer than 1000 deaths), but have had quick short sharp lockdowns whenever necessary, and in general good compliance with masks and social distancing.) Thanks for the insight into how teachers are coping. You all need medals!

Thanks so much, Wendy. Mu husband and I are being tested tomorrow because he is ill and I just want to be sure - I just tested negative on the 12th, but things change so fast. Rdfrdmom2

Hi Jan. You do keep it current and interesting, my friend. Schools are having the same problems everywhere, due to the virus. A year ago, who would have thought this, eh? Although I am not too sure problems are being worked out so well in other areas. Bless you Bob

We were lucky to hire a very forward-thinking superintendent with lots of contacts just before the pandemic hit - he is the man for such a time as this - BTW, I do review all your work - check for either Rdfrdmom2 or Jan as the signature. Love, Jan

Sorry Jan. I must be missing something. Bob

In my school district we started all virtual, and then they realized it wasn't working. August 21st, they allowed the parents a choice to either go virtual or F2F, each teacher was to teach both virtually and F2F at the same time. As teachers were walking out, they decided that wasn't working so they made one teacher on each team a virtual teacher and the rest F2F. That's not working either, at least for the virtual students because, they either aren't doing the work or their parents are. My school district has decided Prk-2 will all be F2F next school year.

It is a hot mess, for sure. One school district near us could not open when they planned because so many teachers quit. Our parents have a choice, too, and who knows who, if anyone, is doing the work? Jan

Great story if I can find your name? I will go back In a moment and read your other stories. I see you are 10 years younger than me, which makes great writers. I am Australian and if you would care to write I'll reply.
Sincerely Anne. Yeah, I know it says Vicki but that's just a glitch! I'm Anne to my friends. Bye!

Absolutely. My name is Janice Holland. I live at 541 Lake Kilby Road, Suffolk, VA 23434-7522. I began on Fanstory a long time ago and have had some stops and restarts. I want to go back into my portfolio and pull out some of my stuff to share with people that have joined since I've left and returned. Looking forward to hearing from you. Jan

Hi Janice I too have (had) been in FS but due to a hitch somewhere I had to restart at the beginning, so here I am. I'm Australian and live in the tropics of Queensland. Glad to make a new friend. I have been writing Mugs for such a length of time I've almost forgotten how to write anything else, he has such a fan club! I tried to Kill him off at around eighty chapters, but I got howled down so he continues to live. Catcha, Anne

Our teachers here have been vaccinated. Have you vaccinated all of you yet? I'm next on the list. I'm hoping next month but we'll see. Good luck with going back and stay safe.

No, my eye surgeon wouldn't let me get it because it was 2 days before my surgery - now Aubrey is sick and we are going to be tested in the morning even though I tested negative on Jan 25th and Feb 12th. Unfortunately, I was exposed to someone who tested positive today because she took me to the doctor on Feb 16th. Will keep you posted. Most of our teachers have been posted. 2nd round is next week. Cindy & David will get theirs Monday & Tuesday. Jan

Covid-19 has caused so many secondary issues esp with schools, Jan. You explained your district's methods well. I pray that all goes well with each group. I know you are hard at work implementing new ideas into what you will teach to keep your students motivated. Best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Thanks, Jan. It's a lot for this 69.5-year-old mind to conceive sometimes but these kids need someone who sees them as kids first and students second. Rdfrdmom2

Yes, there is talk about students going to schools at least part time. Our teachers Union opposed it. It is a difficult decision.
This is a good message. Kids have to learn.

It is a difficult decision because it is going to be hard to keep kids 6 feet apart at all times. Jan

I can identify with this one, having been a teacher for twenty-five years. The wheel is constantly being reinvented, but experienced teachers seem to manage to continue to teach effectively, sometimes despite the new acronyms and buzzwords rather than because of them. Life never seems to get simpler though.

You are so right and I suppose that's the way it's supposed to be. Resilience comes from that, right? Jan
