Oh my, Monica.
Given what you have endured with storms, I understand the inspiration behind this well-written write. You painted an image-filled picture of that brewing storm with such few words. Good usage of minimalism.
Good luck in the contest, my friend.

Thank you so much!

You found a perfect photo for a dramatic snapshot of not only a coming storm, but also of life in today's world.
Let's all pray for a calming of the waters and a sun-filled future.
This post left its mark.

Thank you very much!

Clouds/crowd--clever play and a bit of a tongue "twister" apt for the theme! Rain sputtering--brilliant--I can see and hear it. Excellent choice of title--dreary day perfectly underplays what's coming.

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate your reviews.

You have chosen good words to portray what it is like before a storm hits. The storm clouds look very ominous. Scary to think of a tornado coming, knowing what destruction it will bring.

You capture the menace, in the photo, so thoroughly. Your last line makes me fear for the safety of the boats (not to mention the folks who are potentially in the tornado's path). Thank you for sharing your work. I look forward to reading more in the future.
