A creative short story, reflecting on one's own choices in life and the outcomes. It is well written keeping the twist until the very end. Good wishes for the contest.

I like the twist at the end of this. To think how odd it would be to watch your own funeral. I also wonder what they will do with the new life they have before them.

I like the picture. It is a bright blue sky day. However it doesn't seem to watch a sad story. I assumed the deceased is associated with drugs.
I agree with what you said, "Attending your own funeral can be very depressing."
Wish you luck...

Super twist of scenery, when the deceased gets to reflect on his own death and funeral:"I faded into nothingness as the service broke up. Attending your own funeral can be very depressing." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Hmm, I am a bit torn about this. I get that ending was meant to be a twist, a surprise but I feel, speaking about himself in the second person after also speaking in the first person wasn't fair. It is not a misdirection but something else.
I will ponder this more.
