Perfectly done for the 20 syllable contest. Rhyming is great and the whole piece made me remember when KFC sold livers and gizzards and we would get them and snack while watching TV

    Oh! They did! I'd forgotten about that. They don't sell them anymore.

I liked your ode to deep fried gizzards. You did a good job in using only 20 syllables. There's a lot of things we have to do without during this crazy time. Good luck with the contest.

    Thanks! Yeah, I'm just gonna have to settle for so-so fried gizzards. I'll play around with the recipe though. I'm guessing the gas station's are so good because they put MSG in the batter. That's gotta be why mine are not as addictive.

I'm intrigued. I've been trying to become vegetarian so I'm sure gizzards are off the menu. What are they - those innards in the chicken? Good for you to figure out how to make them yourself. These days, everyone is trying to get me to use the Instant pot I can't seem to find a recipe that would actually be more efficient.
Anyway, fun poem! Best wishes in the contest!

    I've heard so much about Insta-Pots too. I saw them in Wal-mart last week. But yeah, I can't justify purchasing one yet, when I'm getting along cooking things the old-fashioned way still. In fact, my husband has been using his Dutch oven more, and I found out it is GREAT for deep frying. It stays a constant heat much better than using a wok or a deep frying pan. I also got some broccoli that I was going to stir fry, but it tasted so good with the onion dip I made, that they never made it to the pan....... I like to eat. :)

    But you eat healthy so that's fine. By the way, what was your favorite seafood place? (Not that I'd go until we get the virus under control) but you mentioned one a while ago that was either in Coupeville or somewhere in the Sound.

    Favorite seafood place... I can't remember. But I do know that the Brown Lantern in Anacortes has THE BEST deep fried oysters (Do you see a trend here? LOL!) I've had anywhere. Consistently. Like sometimes I'll go somewhere and something will be good one time, and the next time I go, they aren't as good. But EVERY time I've ordered their oysters they are always perfectly crunchy. Never soggy. Never burnt. And their dipping sauce is always really good too. Ah, I'm salivating just thinking about them...

    Thanks! I think that's the one you've mentioned before. Someday, I'll have to go there!
