Multi-Author Posts. Be Afraid; be very afraid!

If you host a multi-author story, you actually have no authority over it, I learned today, because if someone comes in and sabotages it with chapters that have nothing to do with anyone else's chapters, then you have no way to turn it around. In fact, word from the Powers That Be on how to resolve such a problem is this level of succinct: shut the project down and abort the mission! I'm not kidding. That was the recommendation from On High.

So what if lots of money has been spent promoting it? So what if authors who WERE in compliance with the host's guidelines spent lots of time and effort to write something good and then spent Member Dollars to promote it? So what if reviewers took the time to read the posts and review them and maybe even squander their priceless sixes on them? It all needs to just be tossed. All because one person with a sanctimonious, vindictive streak cannot get over herself enough to be gracious and take into account that, when something new is being launched, there could be errors for a bit, so simply take it in stride and move forward! But, no; it's far better to dig in one's heels and make the situation as awkward and acrimonious as possible for EVERYONE.

So beware: if you offer your home page up for a mass party, you are also opening yourself up to squatters. And no authority figures on the site will intercede on your behalf. Is our annual membership valuable or what! Certainly worth every penny for the privilege of being so well listened to and assisted!!

RE: Multi-Author Posts. Be Afraid; be very afraid!

A waiver with a digital signature stating that the original author has all rights and can remove chapters that compromise the continuity of the original story. Some legally binding mumbo jumbo. That way the site manager or bigwigs are not liable for anything including hurt feelings. We pay for the access to this site. WE should have a say over our stories.

RE: Multi-Author Posts. Be Afraid; be very afraid!
Exactly. Perfect suggestion for a solution, because no one should be able to just come in and change the course of your project. It's the equivalent of a lunch guest taking it upon herself to re-arrange your furniture and your cupboards. Unmitigated gall and self-importance...not to mention no consideration for the person whose house you're in.
