Olympic medal counts
The 2024 Olympics are over and the final medal counts are in. China managed to just stay apace with the US on gold medals. But what's really impressive is how many stinkin medals smaller countries like England, France and Australia pulled in, punching way above their weight for their population sizes. Nice work guys. Together, we kept Xi Jinping from being able to say that China is #1.

And of course a special shout out to New Zealand, right.
You know our population is a speck above 5 million so 1/66 of that of the US and about 1/288 of China.
By my reckoning, that means if we had the population of the US we would have won 1320 medals
Most of those would have to be in water sports of course since a population of 300 million plus wouldn't fit onto our little Pacific islands!
