Self-publishing question

About 10 years ago I self published a book on Amazon. Didn't do any marketing for it so the book never sold. I don't even know if anybody even saw it in the Amazon slush pile. I'd like to rewrite it and try to get it traditionally published.

Will an agent touch the story since it's been self published? Is the story dead and best forgotten?

I self-published my book through Amazon in 2018. Within a month or two, I was approached by two small publishing houses about it. They didn't seem to care that it was on Amazon already. I don't know if this would apply to the bigger publishers, but they seem uninterested in unknown authors anyway.
