If calories could only talk
Or scream before my lips
Would dare to pinch and swallow them
And slither to my hips
Then maybe I could conquer such
The femme-fatale-la-foe
That’s every woman's ‘adversare’
Yes, every female’s woe
How did this monster (Calorie)
Sneak up, so craft' and cunning
‘Twas only yesterday it seems
I looked so trim and stunning
And then one day it happened that
I gazed at my reflection
And back at me a figure full
Attracted my attention
And then as if it came to life
The image echoed back
And said, “It’s time to start anew
And go on the attack!”
“No more donuts in the morn
Or ice cream in the night
No buttered bread, no frosted cake
To spoil your appetite”
“No soda, fries or candy bar
No burger on-the-go
No hot dog, chips or pizza pie
And beer’s a plain 'No-No!'"
I put myself in utter shock
When after just a day
My calorie withdrawal signs
Led straight to the buffet
The ogre taunted me to cheat
Temptation pulled me on
While cravings drew their ugly head
Resistance WASN'T strong
And once again I found myself
In front of my reflection
And she, in turn, said "COMPROMISE
Can be your intervention"
So "COMPROMISE" I did indeed
This daily plan I won't blow-off
My favorite diet strategy is...
One hour on and one hour off!
