She waits in her car
I pull up, she climbs in
We head to our long-ago favorite place
As before, romantic candlelight glow
Dinner and we clink wine glasses
Remembering our passionate past
She looks into my eyes
Her cheeks a soft blush
Her whisper a sorrowful tone
“You know we can’t linger;
I have to get back to him.”
On the way to the car
I take her hand our
Fingers desperately entwine
We climb into my convertible
Summer wind blows, top down night
Sliver moon and diamond stippled sky
Oldies on the radio, memories flow
Her legs curled on the leather seat
My hands grasping the steering wheel
Her perfumed brown hair blowing free
Right hand reaches and strokes her knee
Enter Eastgate
One stoplight town
Sign on the right
Vacancy burns
I touch her face
Cradle her chin
Search her eyes
“Shall, I turn in?”
