As temperatures cool and sunshine recedes
Unusual colouring appears on the trees
Translucent leaf colours of yellow and red
Ultimate brightness soon to be shed
Meander through branches before falling dead
Nature at work upon God’s earthly bed
Leaving the branches they hung to so tight
Ending up on the ground, a colourful sight
A rainbow arrangement of red, orange and gold
Vibrant and beautiful, strikingly bold
Earth is covered in carpet of leaves
Scattered about, under the eaves
