Ol' Jim Cannady was no fool,
He lived in the hills with Molly his mule.

He came to town ever' month I'm told
Then returned to the hills to look fer gold.

I can still see him and that old mule,
Packed to the hilt with ever' kinda tool.

I can hear the pots and pans, on Molly's back
As they banged together across her pack.

Molly up and disappeared one day.
And Ol' Jim kinda withered away.

He hid away in his broken down shack
Waitin' fer Molly ta' come back.

We couldn't tell him Molly was found.
She'd been dragged up high in rocky ground.

We figgered a mountain lion had pulled her away,
Jim would eventually find out one day.

The following summer, Ol' Jim passed away.
So, I'm sure he found his Molly that day.
