My God Inhabits Praise by Frank Jauregui
Faith Poetry writing prompt entry

Lord, I’ve seen raindrops falling while the sun was brightly shining
And it seemed so strange to me - as if the sun itself, somehow was shedding rain.
And I’ve heard saints sing praises to your name, through darkest nights
While in their trials, sorrow, and pain.
Yet, I stood amazed - joyful to find
Faith was not lost but gained.

I heard their praise arise, I couldn’t believe my eyes
As I saw burdens fall like broken chains.
I felt your spirit move, I saw mountains removed
Revealing that our God inhabits praise!
And I heard Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord!
Your saints sang Holy, Holy, Holy, is our Lord!

Then…, your word came.

A speck of light shines through the darkest night
nothing can hide it from God's sight.
In this dark world, God's children shine so bright
But brightest when through trials they praise!
When God hears praise arise, his spirit dwells inside
Every word offered up returns as grace.
God gives us love and joy, all our fears, he destroys
And in their place, he leaves an increased faith!
And I heard Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord!
Angels sang Holy, Holy, Holy, is our Lord!

And then..., I prayed.

Lord, here I stand, trusting in you alone
Though I can't fully understand your ways.
But I’ve been called, to walk by faith not sight
Inhabit Lord, my praise!
Help me break through - this darkest night
All of my doubts erase!

I let my praise arise, I couldn’t believe my eyes
I saw my burdens fall like broken chains!
I felt his spirit move, I saw mountains removed
Revealing that my God inhabits praise!
And I sang Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy, is my Lord!
And now by faith,  through every trial
Through every pain, and every sorrow
To the one who holds all my tomorrows
I shall nevermore refrain
from offering to him
My sacrifice of praise!

Writing Prompt
Write a poem about your faith.

Author Notes
This poem is based upon Psalm 22:3 "But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel." Early in my faith, I found this to be so wonderfully true. As I began to praise my Lord especially through trials, I found that not only was my faith increased, but my relationship with my God was also strengthened and I've been praising him, wholeheartedly, ever since. I invite all who are going through their own trials today to taste and see that the Lord is good. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God bless you all as you sing praises to his name!
