I was born on April Fool's Day, believe it or not
1963 is the year in which I was begot.
In Mexico, they call it, Day Of The Holy Innocents.
I am neither holy nor innocent, nor do I think I'm a fool, however
There may be some who might think I'm not cool;
Clever nor wise as the next - not erudite, cunning nor savvy.
But I've had enough patience - enough common sense
To overcome and endure
Fifty-Seven years now, in search of the cure
For the blight
Of having born on this day!
April Fool's!
Oh, the teasing I've endured!
The cruel tricks by which I've been skewered!
Tools falling apart in my hands
flatulent balloons, planted by silly buffoons
not to mention the fake dog poop and barf!
But as I sense the cure drawing nearer
Year after year
It has become abundantly clear
I was born a fool after, all. I was born quite innocent.
And as I sense it draw nearer -- year after year
That final, blessed event -
I more and more confess and repent
As I whisper a prayer into God's ear...,
April Fool's!
I've loved every bit of it.
