He knocked upon my door one day,
Asked if for work I’d gladly pay.
I looked at him in pants of green,
Work boots, t-shirt that read ‘Colleen’.
From ‘neath his sleeves were bold tattoos,
Shamrocks in all the rainbow hues…
I raised a brow, somewhat skeptic,
His words, they were unexpected,
“You name the task, I’ll have it done.
Work’s guaranteed, second to none!”
He handed me his business card:
Labor’s Luck on Green Boulevard…
The card, I thought, made him legit,
It helped he had his cool toolkit!
The fact it matched a pot of gold?
A secret that he's never told.
I walked him through the house to show
The many things to fix and sew…
He looked as pleased as he could be,
Got right to work, a busy bee.
He fixed the bar – it’s good as new,
The liquor shelves are cleaned off, too.
The empty bottles he found there,
He hauled away without fanfare…
And I’m so glad he had a fix
For our front door that always sticks.
Don’t ask me how he gets things done,
I’ve yet to see a tool…not one!
This little ‘glowy’ light appears,
And then the problem disappears!
He worked with such an easy smile
That when he asked to stay a while,
I said, “Sure thing, cuz this is great!
The house is fixed, let’s celebrate!”
Then music played, not sure from where,
But Irish tunes, they filled the air...
They play each year on St. Pat’s Day
For Labor’s Luck was wed that day.
And every day: sun, rain or wind,
We'll be the house at Rainbow’s End!
